I am so mad with Dollar General today! Dragonfly sent me some Nivea Qs because I was unable to get any on my own. They arrived today, so I wanted to use them right away. I loose Qs often, and didnt want that to happen to these.
Went to my local store & found the Nivea quickly. Its right inside the door, so it was really a no brainer. I happened to notice that the Kelloggs Raisin Bran was still on sale for $2 a box. (I need these for the Kelloggs Gas Card Rebate) When I was in there on the 30th I picked up some $3/ any 3 Qs. (They werent valid yet, so I figured I would save them for when they were) These are DG Qs, and I have never used them, but I figured for the great price, it was worth a try. I grabbed 3 boxes.
As I'm waiting in line (6 people in front of me still) a lady comes in and wants to exchange her defective electronic device for a different one. The cashier pulles her aside & calls a manager. She continues to ring people, and the manager arrives. She (the manager) tells the lady she now has to go to the end of the line! The cashier tells the manager she was in line & that she ( the casher) pulled her (the lady) out to help her faster. The manager proceedes to say, in front of a long line of customers, that she doesn't have a drawer, and doesn't want to get one, so the lady will have to wait.
By now it's my turn at the register, and instead of helping the lady she rings my body wash. I'm no dummy & have learned a thing or two from you guys on Cm, so I ask her to ring the wash, then the Qs, then the cereal, then that Q. The wash went off w/out a hitch, but the cereal Q would not scan. At all. The manager says she has to deduct it from the cereal & price over ride it. I could care less how they do it, as long as I get my cereal for $1 a box. The cashier is stumped as to how to do this, so the manager takes over. I see her tapping away at the register & then she turns to me & says $8.67.
I'm like, "Sorry. That's too high. It should be $5.50 plus tax.". The manager looks at me like I have 3 heads or something. The lady behind me is like "I'm in a hurry. Just pay what it says!" The lady w/ the refund is still waiting....And I'm all like, " Sorry. The bw should be .50 after Qs & the cereal should be $1 after Q. 5 bw & 3 cereal should be $5.50 before tax."
She pulls up the details of the transaction & looks at them closely. She says "No. The body was is .50 after Qs, but the cereal is $1.67." To which I say "No! It's simple math! 3 boxes of cereal at $2 = $6 - $3/3 Q = $3" She then says "No. I deducted .33 from each box. You got your Q." Some guy a few people back goes "No. Its simple math. Go back to school."
So, I pull out another copy of the same Q & show her it. She then turns to the cashier & asks her if she took my Q. We both say "yes. It's in the drawer." Like I couldn't plan ahead & grab 2 Qs? Finally, she looks at the Q, says "Whatever!" and deducts the $1 from each box. 20 minutes later, I am finally ready to leave the store. I wished them both a "Magical Day" and exited the building.
Meanwhile, my son has gotten thirsty waiting for me & has come into the store to get 2 Snapple at $1 @. When he gets to the register, she rings him up, then tells him his total is too low to use his debit card & he has to use cash. He doesn't carry cash. He tells her " You don't have it posted. You can accept my debit card.". She's all " The management doesn't like us to accept credit or debit for lass than $5 because they charge us too much per transaction.". DS says "That's not my fault, and now the transaction has gone through. You will just have to take my debit card now."
Sometime between my transaction & DS's they did the lady's exchange. I was still waiting for DS when she cam out to her car, and I told her I was sorry about her wait. She said she understood & agreed w/ me that it was simple math & the manager should have understood it from the very beginning. I told her I was going to call corporate & encouraged her to, as well. When DS came to the car & told me his story, I decided to call on the spot. The very nice lady that helped me agreed that I & my son had both received bad customer service & told me that I would be receiving a call from the DM within 3 days.
