Walmart and Nivia coupons??

I was in my local Walmart (Hickory NC) a couple days ago as one cashier was explaining to the other that management had just informed them not to take but one $3 Nivia coupon no matter how many body washes the customer purchased. (I wasn't using Nivia that day. I had used mine a couple weeks before at another Walmart for 6 free.) But I still wanted to know why so I asked. They said that the coupon says "one per purchase" not "one per item" and that meant they couldn't accept but one. I told her that I didn't have any but had used 6 at a Walmart recently and that I thought they were interpreting it wrong. They were nice, but said that was what the manager had just told them that morning... one per purchase. Has anyone else heard this? And is that what the coupon means by one per purchase? I assumed it meant one per purchased item.

You are right. They are misinterpreting the coupon.

Usually the coupons they are talking about say One per person or One per transaction.

Thank you. I'm fairly new to this so I wanted to be sure I understood it correctly... although I don't know that there would be any way to convince our walmart.

I would have always taken one per purchase as one per item as well. I have used 2 or 3 coupons at the grocery store for multiples of the same item with no problems.

The cashier at my Target told me that last night when I was buying 4 of the Kandoo wipes. I explained to her what purchase vs. transaction meant and she didn't get it. So I said, I am purchasing 4 of them.....you can do 4 separate transactions if you want....she suddenly understood!

I have had it interpreted differently at the same store so I always ask when I go in...that way I can tell the cashier that customer service said it was ok. Sometimes they understand correctly, sometimes not.
