Default Walmart "price cuts"

I noticed at Walmart a few months ago the Scrubbing Bubbles Shower Cleaner was price cut to $3.50. I bought some. Went back a few weeks later and the price was $4.29, so I didn't get it. Yesterday it was marked $3.50 with a big price cut marker.

What's my point? All those price cut markers are deceiving. They aren't newly marking down prices all the time. They mark them down, then up again, then down to what they were so they can have all these flags on the shelf to make it look like they are cutting prices all the time.

I've notice that too!! Just a couple of weeks ago they had Pringles for $1 and I was waiting for the sunday coupon for buy 2 save $1. Well when I went back to the store to purchase them they had gone up to $1.50. So if I used my coupon I would be paying $2 for the two cans ($1 each). The same price they were just a couple of weeks ago. WhatEVER!!

I noticed this with the Whiskas 12 packs of cat food. They are normally $3.88, but then for a while they mark them up to $4.9ish. When the return to $3.88 they put them on an end-cap as an "unbelievable price" item.

Was it a different size of Pringles? Walgreens had all Pringles marked on clearance a few weeks ago for 35 cents for the plain and 50 cents for the flavors. I thought it was odd that they might be discontinuing them. I bought about 21 cans using 35 cents off 3 cans each. They come in handy for work and when going to friends' houses.
They then got a new king size cans which have 100 crisps per can. P & G had the coupons for these in last week's coupon section.
Since the can is bigger, they are now more expensive then the old size cans.

Default progresso soup

WalMart did that to the Progresso soup also. For almost two months it was priced at .97 a can, which is a great price, I think. Had lots of the .50/2 coupons, so made the cans about .75 each. Went in just last week, and they had put up one of the 'rollback' signs above a progresso soup display...the "new" rollback price was $1.50!!!
I about died, how do they consider going from .97 to $1.50 a rollback?
Oh, then went in today, and the price was $1.68, what the..???
Glad I stocked up on the .97 deal

Oh yeah, then one time they had in their ad a big announcement that the price for Chex cereal would be $1.25/box (iirc), not a sale price mind you but a big deal about how that's their regular price.

Went to buy it and they had none in stock. Not even a place for it on the shelves. When they finally got it in months later the price was much higher.

I just noticed that the other day on Starbucks coffee!
It said "rollback" (or something like that) $7, WAS $8.48.
I've never seen it at Walmart for $8.48, it's been $7 for a long time!
I've seen it for that price at other stores but not at Walmart!
It looks like they are trying to trick people into thinking it's a great deal
when it's actually just the same old thing.

DH and I were in there a few weeks ago and they had tons of kitchen gadgets and bakeware "marked down" with the red tags. DH exclaimed "LOOK honey!!" He knows I need new bakeware and love kitchen gadgets...I said "yeah but look at this...." I pulled back the little plastic thing that runs along the shelf that holds the price tags in, below the red "clearance" tag was the original tag with the same price. He was like "WTH?!?! They can't do that!" I told him they do it all the time to trick people.
