Default Kroger Made Me Feel Awkward Today

I know most of us have been in this situation before but today really got to me.
I always do self-checkout. Not only do you not have to wait in line but you can also watch your transaction more smoothly.
At my Kroger you scan your own coupons and then hand them to the cashier.
So today I started to scan my coupons and the cashier came over and watched me?
Literally her face could have touched my shoulder. I felt so uncomfortable.
I really wanted to turn around and ask her if she needed help with something.
I know more and more people are using coupons but goodness......lay off!
Sorry for venting but I'm still trying to let this one go!

I understand your frustration and discomfort, Cori4040! I can only imagine how awkward you must have felt. If that happens again, I would speak to the SCO attendant. Maybe starting a conversation might make your interaction (if that's what you want to call it!) less tense. Plus, you may even have the opportunity to develop a friendly relationship with the employee(s) that will make your life at SCO much easier, especially if this is your store's new policy.

At my local Kroger, when I use SCO I have to hand all of my coupons to the attendant who returns to the station and scans the coupons without me present. For that reason, I usually avoid the SCO at my Kroger because I prefer to hand over my coupons one by one. Also, in my experience, the SCO attendants don't always scan all of my coupons, so now I just go through the regular check-out line.

You may want to find out if this is a new policy in your area, and if so, maybe it would be better to wait a little longer and go through the regular check-out line.

Hopefully she was just interested and wanted some pointers. I know when I first started major couponing I wanted to know what coupons other people had and where I could get them. And was very interested in how much people saves so I could do it to.

I would probably say something like "can you believe what great deals I'm getting". lol you never know it might open her eyes on how she views couponers.

That is the same policy at our Kroger but I watch the screen as she is scanning in my coupons to make sure that everyone is scanned and entered properly.

I would gladly trade a cashier standing over my shoulder watching me if I could scan my own coupons. Our SCO is the same as the other posters where you hand your coupons to the cashier and they scan them at the register. It is very slow and not worth going to if you have more than a couple of coupons. I would love to scan my own; it's the control.
