Default Ugh! Looks like K-mart has changed the double coupon rules

So my original e-mail from them on Sunday verifying they were doubling starting 9/27 had the same rules.....10 coupons with $25 purchase and so forth. Well today my neighbor got an e-mail saying this.

The rules for this event are:

Store Operations Associates are to only double Procter & Gamble coupons
? The limit or coupons doubled per person is FIVE not 10 as previously
communicated. Procter & Gamble coupons all include the name ?Procter &
Gamble? in the coupon disclosure. If this name does not appear in the
disclosure, the coupon can be accepted at face value only. There is no
limit to the number of non-Procter & Gamble coupons customers can
redeem.Manufacturer Coupons up to $2 Value Doubled- Does not include Kmart
Store Coupons. Does not include Kmart Pharmacy Coupons. Limit 5 total
coupons per customer per day doubled ? additional coupons beyond 5 will
be redeemed at face value only. Minimum purchase of $25 in grocery and
    drug store merchandise required.
Participating stores only. Amount of credit from doubling a coupon
cannot exceed the current retail price of a single item. No cash or
in-store purchase credit will be awarded for any amount exceeding the
retail price of the item. Limit 1 coupon for each item purchased. Only
1 coupon will be doubled per item. You may only purchase 4 of the same
item using double coupons. Excludes Buy One, Get One offers, Kmart
Savings coupons and Kmart Store coupons. Coupons do not apply to sales
tax. Limit 5 coupons per customer per day. Offer excludes products
prohibited by law, including but not limited to alcohol, tobacco, and
prescription medication. Not valid on non-merchandise, federal or state
regulated items, prior purchases, Lands? End, Sears merchandise rung on
Sears registers within Kmart and kmart.com. In the event of a return,
coupon savings may be deducted from the refund. Exclusions apply. Please
    see store associate for details.
Sears Holdings (Kmart) reserves the right to modify or cancel this
    program at any time.
Grocery and drugstore items include: all food items, health & beauty,
baby diapers, household cleaning supplies, pet foods, detergents, paper
goods, shampoos and other beauty items, over the counter medicines such
as : Tylenol, aspirin, etc. 5 coupons, per day, per customer may be
doubled. Additional coupons will be honored, just not doubled.
Customer should choose which 5 they would like doubled..... $25
    threshold is BEFORE coupon redemption.

I live in PA and since seeing this e-mail I checked on another coupon site and see that several people from different states are getting this update too. If it really is only P & G coupons can you imagine how long it will take to check out!! And how would they verify IP coupons as P&G??? The cashier will have to check each coupon to verify it and who knows if they will have ANY training to do this properly. I can see MANY problems with this. Plus only 5 coupons! The stores in my area have never put a limit on coupons for me so I don't know if they would for this or not. All I know is only using P&G coupons will not make it worth it to me especially if I can only use 5 and also have to have $25 total! Sorry, but I will not even bother getting out of bed for this!

I am so frustrated because I just ordered a ton of coupons to use and it appears I will not be able to use them since NONE of them are P&G!They really need to get the details finalized BEFORE answering people on the restrictions since myself and a ton of other people got a different response first and then a day later changed it.

I wonder if they've got the registers programmed to double only 5 scanned coupons, or if it's a cashier oriented thing. Like the OP said, is it up to the cashier to figure out PG vs. non PG, or is the register going to detect this?

I smell LOTS of problems brewing....

So, if it's 5 P&G and they double up to a $4 value, plus enforce the spend $25 this means that you will always have a $5 oop. Also, how would you get to the spend $50 get $12Q without major oop?
Am I correct in this calculation?

Yep, sounds right to me (unless you have other coupons, at face value, to lower your additional OOP, but with Kmart's normal, and even sale prices, being so high, I prefer to use my coupons elsewhere).

I won't even bother going. What's the point? Besides, with a few exceptions, P&G doesn't even put out that great of coupons (25c on Charmin? So now I get 50c? Wow. ).

Ok, I have no idea what the people at K Mart corp are thinking. Way too many rules to remember and enforce. I live in Pa too and the K mart I always go to never enforced the 'limit' rule. So, my plan is the same. Gathering my q's, going to show up early and do shopping. If I run into a snag or two I don't like I will suspend the transaction and/or return some items I didn't get double q credit on. Do you really think the cashiers are going to remember all those rediculous rules. Give me a braek!! We know K-marts are struggling to just stay open and then they come up with this crap. Whatever!!!

Here is my email I got this morning...

    Dear Sarah Francisco,

Thank you for contacting Kmart regarding the Double Coupon Event. We appreciate your interest in this promotion.

Kmart is participating in ?Double Your P & G BrandSaver Coupons?. The
event is running from 9/27/09 through 10/3/2009. All Procter & Gamble coupons that include the name ?Procter & Gamble? in the coupon disclosure are included. If this verbiage does not appear in the
disclosure, the coupon can be accepted at face value only. The limit
is 10 doubled coupons, per day, per customer.

At this time we do not have a list of the store that will be participating in the event. Please contact us periodically for updates.

Thank you for taking the time to contact us. We appreciate your business and value you as a Sears Holdings customer. We certainly hope you will continue to make Sears Holdings your choice for quality and value.

    Sincerely,
    Elizabeth A.,

It appears, from reading the info above, that "Proctor & Gamble" has to appear in the "to Retailer" info on the coupon. That's the only verification the cashiers will have to look for. (When I participated in the last "Doubles", the registers automatically doubled the Qs -- so most cashiers may only have to scan the Qs & the register/computer will sort out which can/will be doubled.)

This news was shocking -- and disappointing. But, here's how I look at it right now: We were blessed with Super Doubles just weeks ago. And, though we would all like "doubles" or "triples" every week, we were not expecting another such Event until after Xmas. To give us more Doubles, even if limited to P&G, is a blessing. I don't know if I have any P&G Qs I want to redeem, but if I do, the Event's week would be the time to do it.

If I have more than five P&G Qs I want to redeem, I will ask the cashier if she can double all of them, in the same transaction. (I'll put the excess back, if she can't/won't.) Usually they are very good about accepting more than the advertised "limit".

Today, I will look at my Qs and see if P&G appears on any I want to redeem. Getting the additional savings (when I wasn't expecting "doubles" until next year) is a real blessing -- that I will gladly accept.

This is a joke! (all the different responses that is)

I would not worry too much and just go in and do a trial run on an item or two. The rules they TRY TO SCARE us with have never been applied before! (Ex: $25 min purchase for Q's to double.) Some of us did have to live with the 10 Q but that was about it. The "computers" NEVER do what they claim.

So no worries LADIES & GENTS!!! Let's just wait and see.

I too am going to continue as usual with my plan. I find it VERY hard to believe that they are putting such limitations on the doubling
