I think I hate K Mart
 [LEF[/LEFT]
I need some claification as to what a Consumable Purchase Means on a $3 coupon that K Mart would not let me use when I obviously had enough to qualify for this coupon. The service clerk could not begin to define it except as "anything that you eat". I think that that is the edible part. It states
$3 off your next purchase of $20 or more in edibles and consumables?
I had a coupon for a free bottle of alcohol (rubbing) and it was 1.35 which I got free but not the $3 one. Any one know their policy? I do not want to hate K Mart but CVS and Wals are so much easier to understand.

I agree with you. Edibles are the food items you purchase.
According to Webster Consumable:
–adjective
1. able or meant to be consumed, as by eating, drinking, or using: consumable goods.
2. liable to be used up or depleted: comsumable resources.
–noun
3. Usually, consumables. something that is produced to be consumed, as processed food or fuel.
So any hba product that is liquid, gel, able to be used up would count as a consumable. Therefore, the alcohol would have applied to your coupon.
Unfortunately, the language isn't confusing - you knew what it meant. It is that it is probably right at that 5th grade education mark for how things are allowed to be written and flew right over this person's head.

I thought that the coupon was only for food, but then I heard the recorded kmart announcement which said that consumables are things that you buy to make you feel great and smell good, or something like that. So I then said "honey, go to the car and get that consumable coupon!"

This word infuriates me as well. Best Buy would not honor my extended warrenty, because they said my refrigerator drawer that broke was a consumable good. Who knew?
I don't shop at Best Buy anymore.

Bear, I would disagree with Best Buy...you still have the same amount of refrigerator drawer left even after it's broken. You didn't "use it up" or eat it for goodness sakes. Shame on best buy for that! I could see them blaming "wear and tear" but not because it's consumable. That would make me mad, too!

Their warranties are useless. They look for any loophole or turn of the phrase to get out of paying valid claims. I've had a laptop take a crap on me. After paying them to see what the problem was, they denied my warranty claim saying condensation caused the problem & that was not covered. Condensation? Right...
Used to buy all my electronics there. No more now. Can't trust 'em.

I have gotten so frustrated with those stupid KMart coupons too! (Yet I still try to use them.) I *think* the case here is is that both the alcohol coupon and the $3 off coupon are considered "K Mart Savings coupons" and one of them (maybe both, I don't have them in front of me right now) say only one K Mart savings coupon per transaction. That's the best I can figure.

I think you're right. I was not able to use the free rubbing alcohol, free peroxide, or free cotton swabs Q because I used the $5/$50 on my order. Also wasn't able to use the $3 K-Mart consumables Q to pay toward my OOP cost because of the $5/$50.
Also didn't receive my Catalina Qs. The Catalina strip that the machine spit out was at least two feet long, and totally blank! Nothing on it! And the clerk just tore it off the machine and started taking care of the next customer. What?! When I asked if they could re-print it, was told I was out of luck. They have no way of doing that, or of even knowing what should have been on it. Think I'm going to have to call Catalina tomorrow to see if they can help. The store staff was unable to do anything, and seemed totally disinterested in helping or even giving me a phone # to call, corporate or otherwise. Guess I'll look up the Catalina company phone # myself.

Kmart coupon...
I had went to Kmart Monday night and tried using the $3 off edible or consumable catalina coupon and was told I wasnt able to with my health/beauty products because I can only use them on items you can "consume."
I advised the cashier that the coupon states edible - stuff you can eat and it states consumable - stuff you can consume (as far as be able to use - body wash, lotion, etc.). She was rude and flat out said no.
I asked her and the manager at the store what I can use the coupon for and the manager responded by telling me anything you can eat, dog food, etc. I was upset and just had let it go.
So I decided to contact Corporate the next morning and spoke with someone who advised that consumable is referring to items you can eat. So I just hung up and decided to send them an email with the definition of "consumable." Havent received a response yet...
Has anyone had any luck with these catalina coupons?
