Need expert K mart guidance

Not usually a K-mart shopper but the Huggies deal and the super doubles drew me to try and unfortunately my trip just wasn't what I'd hoped...

This is what I tried...

5 packs pull ups
1 pack wipes
- 5 $2 pull ups q's
-$1 bath n' body q

$14 cat and 5/50 printed (so far no problems...)

= 33.94 (tried to use $14 cat but wouldn't go- thought maybe it was like Wags and can't roll)

Total before q's = 50.07
Tried to use 5/50 q- register would not let it go through- despite the cashier's best attempts
Total after q's 19.34- tried to use $14 cat from trans #1 both before and after q's without success. (register states $2 reward but only the free milk bone cat prints out)

Big line started to form so went to CS where the manager told me it was b/c the $14 cat could not be used in conjunction with any other q Knew this wasn't true for others on here but she wouldn't budge. She had no explanation for why the 5/50 q wouldn't work except the standard "it's the total AFTER q's" which I know is false (See trans #2) Got really irritated and returned ALL huggies and the socks, gum and placemat, got my coupons back- not a good deal without the cats to use. Now bummed that I have coupons and no diapers...

Experts help! What happened???

I think what happened is...you can't use the $14 cat with the $5/50...and sometimes in my experience it is best to have the cashier scan the cat or reward before the coupons because if the totals are below the intended amount it may not allow the rewards. Also if she scanned the $5/50 and it didn't take...she needed to void it so it would take your $14 cat..you can roll those as long as you get the correct products, which you did on the first and second transactions. I hope that helps you a bit. You said you saw a $2 reward on the screen, did you have a kmart coupon by chance? They will ring up as rewards and not coupons since they do not double.

Your problem with transaction #3 I think is that your total was not $50 BEFORE TAXES. Your post doesn't really say, but if that's after tax, then that's why. HTH.

Wow...not really sure what happened and unfortunately managers often don't know their stores own policies or why q's won't work. I went to Kmart yesterday (3rd time this week) to use my last few q's for doubles and also take advantage of another 5/25 h&b. My cashier was extremely nice and when we got to my last q (the free pantene styler when you purchase a shampoo/conditioner) it wouldn't go through. She seemed to be trying everything and of course she was the only register open so a line started to form behind me. She called someone for cs over who had no idea and didn't seem to want to deal with it. I finally just told her to nevermind. Void the styler and give me my q back. This is when my order really started to get messed up. When she voided it it added on the fee and they couldn't resolve it. Store manager came over and voided my entire transaction!!! Made her start all over and said I couldn't use my free styler q because I used a $1 off 2 Pantene products already. ?? When she started to re-ring my order she realized that it hadn't taken because she hadn't used the styler sale price. She said I COULD use that q -- manager didn't know what he was talking about! hehe. I walked out of there a little frustrated by the confusion but thankful to my cashier's friendliness and persistance. Also happy that I spent just over $6 and walked out of there with 2 bottles of pantene, 1 bottle of Axe shampoo for dh, 2 gillette deodorants for dh, 1 gillette body wash for dh and 1 pantene mouse. Not free items (because I had used all of those really good q's - but still not a bad haul for just over $6

My total on #3 was 50.07 before taxes but I think I figured out why he 5/50 didn't go through- it stated grocery and health 5/50 and the socks & placemat must not have counted so my grocery/health subtotal was under 50 so no go.

I still don't understand what the problem was with the cats- the cashier tried them both before and after q's and since the 5/50 didn't scan on #3 we tried it also before and after 5/50 so I'm still flummoxed. I think I just have bad K-mart karma - the diaper deal was enticing but I think I'll just stick with my regular stores. K-mart's a bit of a drive anyway...
