    Default Just can't get motivated!

I can't seem to get motivate to go score deal, or do much of anything. This is getting really frustrating! At least I have a stock pile that has been getting us through, but I hate feeling this way. Does anyone else experience this? I don't know if it is my age/hormones, the fact that the last kid is graduating and wants so desperately to leave, our money issues, or just life in general? My doctor put me on meds, and also said my iron was low, but it has been 2 wks and I just don't care.

I manage to get up and get dressed, and take care of immediate needs, but procrastinate on everything else. I just can't get focused on anything. Anyone else go through this? What did you do to snap out of it? Thanks for any insight.

OK not a doctor here.......but have your doctor check your vitamin D. Dr Oz, Oprah, and a few other shows......especially in winter months......show people lacking this vitamin and it causes you to feel depressed, etc. (Have it checked don't just do something without medical advise.)

Just may help.....even with us here in Florida I have to give my little one extra as her's stays low.......various reasons for that, but it IS important.

Also on the meds many of them take 2 weeks or more to get the right levels in your system before you "feel" any better. Also many times you will have to "try" several before the right one is found to help you.

    Tiffeney,
I have to agree, the gloomy weather here hasn't been helping, but you inspired me to get on my treadmill and walk for a few. Couldn't hurt.

    Litsa,
Interesting about the Vit D. My Doc did say mine wasn't where they wanted it so would look into putting me back on mega doses, but never got back to me on that. I feel comfortable bumping up what I take for a bit, till I see her again and get back on the mega dose.

I realize finding the right meds may be a challenge, Im just impatient and want to feel better now!!

Thanks for you insight and suggestions.

I actually feel pretty much as you described and have for months now. I don't have any problem going to work and doing the basic things I need to do, but everything else seems like too much trouble, and I only want to sit around. I do find that getting up and moving, for instance, taking a walk helps for awhile.

You sound like you might be depressed. Exercise is very good for depression or just to get the blood flowing. When you sit around too much, you will get feeling sluggish. Try walking for at least 20 minutes a day. It will release serotonin in your body and make you feel somewhat better if your problem is depression.

I also would either call your dr. or pharmacist and ask how long it takes for the medication to work since you have been on it for 2 wks. I always figure I paid the dr. for my visit and if the medicine does not appear to be working, he/she needs to give me something else or increase the medication level. There is no one size fits all as far as I am concerned. Hope you find the answer soon. It's not fun feeling yucky!

    Hey emerldrose,
I'm not a doctor either and it sounds like you getting good advice on that front anyway. I just wanted to chime in and say to take the pressure off yourself. Decide "Not" to do anything for a week (or a month). "I'm not going to do anything I don't want to do until xx/xx/xx". This will take that looming pressure you feel while relaxing, you know the "I should be doing this" and "I could have had that done" that is hanging over you. Give yourself permission to "really" relax, and if there's somebody that doesn't like it, well...tough %#%#. I had a touch of what you describe but when the stockpile started running lean and wife and daughter started paying retail (and above retail at the local general store where milk is $4.29) that snapped me right out of it, lol! Good luck!

Be as depressed as you need to!!! No where is it written that a girl has to smile and wave goodbye to her baby and LIKE it......who the H*&% can do that without havin some kind of a come apart? Both of my DDs moved out together a few months ago.....yes they were old enough, yes it was time, yes they are doing fine.....but my heart could barely take it, for a while. No kids is a big HUGE change, DH and I were lost for a while. It DOES get better and the dread is worse than the actual move. You will find you enjoy life again when you've had your time.......not before. Just because you may be depressed doesn't mean you don't have damned good reason for it, or that there is anything wrong with the way you feel. This too shall pass.........

I have no idea your age, but I have many of the same symptoms as you and I know that I'm going through the change.

But I also agree with Litsa about the vitamin D... most of us up North don't get nearly enough Vitamin D through sunshine. You need to be in the sun, unprotected for about 15 minutes per day to get enough D. I think I remember Dr. Oz saying that you can't get enough D from milk and dairy products. Do you also take vitamins? I went to VitaminID . com and took the little quiz, they provided me with a list of vitamins and such that I should be taking for my lifestyle, eating habits, age, etc... Check it out and maybe ask your doctor about it.

    Kameelyon,

I like your suggestion, it is just hard when I have cut back on school, and put off finding a job so that I could take care of unfinished stuff around the house. And now with deadlines looming, Taxes, Homework and tests, and other family obligations, I am just having to push through. I guess that isn't a bad thing.

And I agree, you would think paying full price for stuff would snap a cheapskate out of this funk, but I paid full price for a gallon of milk at CVS the other day, just to save having to go to another store. I justified it by saying I would spend more on gas than I would save.

    Deb,

Thanks for your support, reading your post reminded me of all the things that are going on right now, and all the reasons I have to be in a funky mood. I really do need to give myself a break.

I am 48 and was wondering if this is all part of the changes in hormones. Glad to know it isn't uncommon. I will look into the Vit D website. Thanks.

Thanks for all the other responses. It helps to chat about it and makes me not feel so alone going through this.
