Default Need some advice on E Cigs

Hi, my name is Sharon and I am addicted to tobacco. Whew there, I said it. I have smoked longer than I care to admit and so does DH. I have recently been researching E Cigs and was wondering if anyone has tried this as a method of quitting. There seem to be so many different kinds out there that I don't know where to begin. I have tried every other method over the years and have just as many excuses as to why I started back but I am ready to give it one more try. Chantix did not work at all for me and sent me into a total tailspin so that is out. I will admit I have no will power when it comes to smoking. I need it like a fat kid needs cake. DH has no intention of quitting so that adds to my lack of will power. So, if anyone has any advice on the subject I would appreciate it.

i too am about to ecig. I had a friend who let me try theirs it was actually good my bad thing is more the inhaling calms me. The lady at w Walgreens told me they have one for about ten dollars and it lasted her like two weeks. Even though they are smokeless they do still have nicotine in them so you won't be going quite cold turkey. Plus it will save you tons of money I know I'll be saving at least 100 a month if not more which means more food for 3 hungry teens.

Hi, my name is Deb and I am an addict. DH and I bought a roll your own machine and stopped buying our brands. The change is realized right off. They are way under $10 a carton, we both smoke less though they taste good and we are both feeling better already. No additives........
It's a cowards way but at least we are smoking much less and spending MUCH MUCH less.
Pm me if you want the details....

    Good Luck!!!!!!

I recently bought one of the cheaper kinds to try. It's okay. It will stop the nicotine cravings. But the taste isn't there. One of my clients was diagnosed with advanced lung cancer two months ago. She is in the hospital now and does not have much longer. She quit smoking 10 years ago. Plus another friend of mine dropped dead 2 days after being diagnosed a few years ago. I guess it's the type they don't catch until it's too late. So I have cut way back and am trying the e-cigs. I find that walking around outside for a few minutes helps. My problem is driving. I drive from house to house all day and will chain smoke, I can go hours at home without smoking and be fine. But the car is my weakness. I guess maybe trying different brands until we all find one we like is the answer.

    Hi,

I was a heavy smoker for 15+ years, and tried so many ways to quit, it's not even funny. But, I did it...and so can you. From my experience -- will power is NEVER enough...there is NO quick fix...and you WILL experience discomfort/"pain." I don't know about the e-cigs....but, part of quitting is withdrawing from nic AND forming new habits.

I quit using the American Lung Association "Freedom from Smoking" plan, and used a Nic patch for the first 2 weeks just to help me get over the overwhelming withdrawl urges. A plan is critical, because, it's impossible to think straight those first few days and weeks. So, you want to know exactly how you are going to handle the tough moments....maybe, it's sucking on candy, or walking, or simply sleeping (I did a lot of sleeping in the first week of my quit). I also lived on the Freedom from Smoking Boards....so very supportive! Bottom line, you'll need to learn how to accept the discomfort....and work through it....and work your plan....and accept support....cry, scream, hot baths....and take it one minute/hour/day at a time. Never stop quitting....never. Try again. And, always remember --Quitting is easier than [fill in the blank].
