Hello!
My name is Becky and I am married to a DH who doesn't understand my excitement about coupons and saving money. I have a DS 8.5yrs and 2 dogs.
I work full time as a nurse educator in the operating room.
I have been lurking for about a month and have replied to a few messages.
I just love this forum and the site. I was an "unconscious" shopper before this site, but not any more! I am very conscious about every item I buy. I have an accordian coupon file, a price notebook, and multiple lists for sale items.
We are trying to follow Dave Ramsey's system and hope to use the savings from couponing to pay more on our debt.
Thanks for everyone's help and ideas on this site!
Becky

My name is Nina.
I'm a nurse as you probably may have guessed by my screen name.
I live in NE Georgia about 1hr outside of Atlanta.
I have a wonderful BF. I have 2 college age kids from a previous marriage. They are good kids, but I think they're more trying now than when they were little. I do wish I knew how to shop when they were little and we were so broke back in the day. Would've made things a lot easier, not worrying how we were going to feed them this week. Boy I don't miss those days one bit.

I've been doing the couponmom method for about 1yr now. I have learned so much from her site. I will never go back to shopping the old way.

Very cool. My sister and I are into the midnight shopping gigs as well. Much more interesting shoppers at those hours too!

I am starting the Dave Ramsey system too of paying off our credit card debt. It's really a great system. Welcome

Yep a whole different breed out at those hours....esp at the drug stores, I never would have expected that!

Default Well Hello cyber couponers

I guess I didn't know I was supposed to introduce myself until I stumbled upon this thread earlier today. Well anyway here goes nothin'.

My name is Amy and I've been married to my husband Adam for 10+ years (have considered renaming myself Eve since the day we met - just to be silly). We live in an old (now fixed up) house in Michigan and have 3 beautiful daughters, ages 7, 5 and 2. There is a surplus of immature estrogen at our house 24/7/365, my poor DH. Seriously though they are great kids, they make me proud and fill my heart with love every minute of every day (although some minutes are prouder and more full of love than others...).

Professionally speaking I'm an architect, but in 2003, when our oldest was 18 months old she became critically ill. Around that same time our second child was born and I went on permanent maternity leave. Nowadays I'm a SAHM and occasionally do architectural/zoning consultant work or design service contracts. I hope to increase my workload as the kids get older. I love being an architect, but I love my kids and being my own boss even more.

Our oldest daughter is healthy as a horse these days. The medical problems she had, primarily revolved around food allergies, so I spent 4 years cooking without wheat, milk and eggs. I have grand delusions of one day publishing an allergy cook book for people (especially children) with multiple food allergies. My dream is to make it a good reliable cookbook, with edible results (not so easy as you might think) and have the whole thing spiced with a heavy dose of humor. Food allergies are not the least bit funny and people coping with them get rather hungry and grouchy in the kitchen - believe me. Had I been paying attention when I created my user name I would have chosen "allergymom", because that's what everyone calls me.

I spent this past summer growing a huge garden and I canned and canned and canned, hoping to take a bite out of what was becoming an alarming grocery bill. I ended the fall with about 500 quarts in the pantry and freezer, so I'm up to speed on the concept of "stockpiling". Even before I planted the garden I made a list of what I wanted to can, and I managed to get it all done, except for the 100 quarts of corn I wanted to put by. We had a little problem with big critters eating the corn, mainly cows that got loose after a lightening strike knocked the electric fence out. One cow in particular ate/danced on about 1/2 the corn patch. I've named her Cornelia, and shake my fist and threaten to eat her every time she looks at me. My dad promised that if Cornelia doesn't calve this year he'll make me a burger out of her behind. Normally I'm not this blood thirsty, but I was soooo hungry for that fresh sweet corn and counting on that stockpile for the deep freezer. Good news for Cornelia, she's looking plumper by the day now.

In October a girlfriend of mine called and said "In seven minutes Stephanie Nelson's going to be on Oprah". I had no idea who Stephanie was, but I turned it on and watched, can't say that I could hear that much over the din, but I kept turning the volume up anyway. Actually once I saw Stephanie, and heard her called the "Coupon Mom" I remembered seeing her on TV before. I've used coupons pretty regularly since having children, I signed up on all the baby product websites and even traded q's with other moms. I mean seriously who can turn down a coupon for $5 off a box of diapers or $10 off a can of formula? Not me. But I can say that I'd never abused them like I do now. I've always been a sale shopper, but I've never combed the ad fliers like I do now. Before I would just look around at the store and shop the deals I could see and comparison shop - just like mom taught me.

Well those days are over, since finding couponmom and all you wonderful people I'm now an aggressive, strategic, conscience, empowered, calculator clickin', coupon binder toting, wheelin' dealin' shopper - HEAR ME ROAR!!!

Hi everyone! I'm Lauren, live in Northeast Ohio and I just turned 29. My husband and I have been married for about a year and a half and just bought our first house... so I've really been couponing a lot lately because of our new mortgage - plus its nice to have more space for my growing stockpile of goodies! My SIL started telling me about couponing about a year ago and at first it was pretty overwhelming to learn but now I get all the deals she does, its all "clicked" for me.

No kids yet, probably in the next few years once we get all settled in our house!

Oh, my screen name beaker40 is because when I was in high school my friends used to call me "beaker" after the muppet because I made a weird face like him... I guess it sort of stuck.

Thanks to everyone for the information on this site, I learn so much every day!

Hi
I did not know I was supposed to introduce myself either.
I am a normal person, a lot of people says that they can never do what I am doing.

I grew up in EGYPT, got an undergrad degree in pharmacy and in 2000 moved to Mississippi upon my acceptance in a graduate degree program in a Pharmacy School. (So far a normal person)
I got married 2 months before I left to MS, and I had to go by myself. Well, 3 months later, my husband flew to US but not to MS, but to SC for a 2 year graduate program too. So we ended up living in different states, we met in the holiday times and every couple of month. 2 Years later, we received GOD's gift, a girl (6 yr old now), in 2002, he went back home while I stayed for 2 more years taking care of my girl and finishing up my program.
Finally (not really), I got my Ph.D. and joined my husband at home, not for long though. We had our second daughter during this time. We then headed back to MS in 06, after I got a nice job to continue doing my research. My DH started a series of exams to get the US medical license. 2 years later, he gets a job in OH, he moved there last year and I am still in MS. So yes, I am doing that long distance relationship AGAIN (I guess 4 years were not enough)

We are coptic Christian and we just got our Permenant Residency in the states after 8 years of visas. And we feel that Christ is leading us every step of the way!

I am happy, so happy, to find this site!
