This started as a tradition of my family, when I was a baby. My grandparents are never around for Christmas. We have had Christmas the first full weekend of November since I was a month old. So today is my families Pretend Christmas Eve. I spent last night wrapping gifts, and getting ready to leave for the weekend. It is always at our summer cottage, where we have no running water, and our only source of heat is the wood burning stove. I would never change this tradition, for a million dollars. People have asked me if I regret the fact that my grandparents are never home for Christmas, and I always answer the same way. "I have never had them home for Christmas so I don't know any different." So bring on the Christmas Carols, Egg Nog, Turkey, and way, way, way to much wine.
Merry Pretend Christmas
