Oh, Alake, you just made me think of our early Christmas with my grandparents. They always went to California to spend the winter with my uncle and aunt, so we had our celebration the first weekend in December. Thank you for reminding me of our fun times... Have a blast!

Bethanyam, we celebrate with my mom the Saturday before Christmas. My family is so big that there's no way Christmas day would work. If we gather my mom, siblings and DH's, nieces and nephews... we have 54 people. Try that for a holiday! That does include my sister's family that lives in California and my brother's family that also lives in California and neither are ever with us... but we do have a huge family.

Well that is kinda why we do it, because when I was a kid, my dad's mom insisted that EVERYONE be at her house Christmas Day. Well that at one of the last counts was almost 60 people and there were always hurt feelings if someone didn't show up or went to the "inlaws" or something. She passed away more than 10 years ago, and her daughters try to carry on the tradition, but it's really sad when they try to make you come, or guilt you into it if you have other plans. Somebody always ends up mad or with hurt feelings, which to me defeats the whole purpose. My dad said he didn't ever want my sisters or I to feel like we have to choose between families.

Merry Christmas to you!
It should always be about the people you love most and not the time of year. Quailty Time together is what it is all about. What an inspiring family story! Thank you for sharing and have a Merry fake Christmas with lots of hugs and kisses...and wine too!!
