Talking My son is almost a Marine!!!

I can not believe the time is almost here to go and see and bring home our son from Parris Island, SC United States Marine Corps bootcamp.

Tonite he starts the last leg of his training journey! It's called the Crucible for those that have never heard of this. It's 40 mile hike into the woods, to perform different tasks that involved mental and physcial strength. Crucible will start for my son at 2am Thursday morning and end 8am Saturday morning. It is 54 hours, only 4 hours of sleep, and 2.5 MRE meals. He has trained for this for 12 weeks now and is feeling nervous but ready to get this done. You can also google Marine Corp Crucible and see a better defintion or even watch some youtube videos clips of it if you want.

All prayers are welcomed and thanking you in advance.
He is in 3rd Battalion Kilo Company, the message board we are on for parents is such a great place of support. We have a prayer chain for the entire 54 hour Crucible with a different person praying each hour.

Thank you and can't wait to update ya'll and post some pics to share next week.

Wow, that sounds really grueling! I wouldn't make it a half day. lol

Congrats and good luck to your son! I'll be adding prayers. One of my uncles was a Marine.

Congratulations!!! He made it this far he'll be fine. DH is a former Marine and so is BIL; long family history of Marines on my side. My cousin has another year left; time goes by so fast. When DH was in they didn't do the Crucible but he knows all about it and by that point they are so well trained they are pumped up for it. He said it would have been 'FUN' to do that. I know at least one of my DS's is going into the Marine's, the question is which one. Sending prayers and good thoughts. Bring lots of tissues, you're gonna need them.

Congratulations to your SON, and to your entire family. I will keep you all in my prayers. Its hard for a parent to watch their child leave to join the military, but its so rewarding to see them graduate from basic. Im sure your heart will be in your throat a few times as you watch them march up an down the parade field. I know when our son graduated from basic training for the Army in SC.. it was a very proud day . I will never forget that day. Im sure you will never forget it either.. Take lots of pics.. Bless you all.

I know what you are talking about my son was in the Marine Corp. There is nothing more heart warming to see them graduate. I wish your son the best. I know it has also been very hard on you to but that part is just about over then he will go on to bigger & better things. I will definitely remember you all in my prayers!
