I agree with others' responses. I do really think that some people are honestly jealous because they don't want to take the time to figure out how to make coupons work for them. I really RESENT it when I get comments like, 'Wow! You must have a lot of free time on your hands!" Like I've got nothing else to do but clip coupons and go grocery shopping! I think we all have a lot on our plates but we make time for SAVING MONEY!! It's called TIME MANAGEMENT sweetie!

Wow, that felt good to get off my chest...do you think you touched a nerve??!!

Default You are soooo much nicer than me.

My MIL and I get along, but believe me there have been many barbs I've gotten caught up on over the years. I find it most effective to just turn them around and make it not about me in the negative but in the positive, deflect and redirect. So the snide comment you got about choosing coupons would be an opportunity to explain that you're really very smart and know exactly which coupon to use because you have a calculator for a brain. And a snide comment about your "collection" would be an opportunity to explain that it's not a "collection" but a "strategic battle plan" so you have all the right coupons at the right moment. You might also want to be prepared with a grimace and a shrug and you're own snide comment about coupons in the untrained hand are a sure path to financial ruin...

I really like your post Ameeker... this really strange noise was coming from me and then I realized it was a devious chuckle.

I myself have experienced this one, and the irony is that the very person who said it comes up to family quite often asking for financial bailouts. My policy? Just say NO.
