It seems to be a truism that the guys just can't seem to pick up after themselves. I'm thinking of the TV commercial where Mom is sick and the kids and dad are sitting around a trashed-out living room, when she finally gets up. The only dialogue is "oh-oh..."!
Seriously, adults should be held to picking up after themselves. While I agree that the outside working partner may have some leeway in not doing some major household jobs, the simple act of putting dirty dishes in the dishwasher and wiping up after one's self is basic adult behavior.
Now if only I could enforce that in my own home...
