Default Let's share our 4th of July plans here

OK so let's share our favorite recipes, traditions, stories, or other things relating to Independance Day. I didn't have to spend a penny but made cupcakes with frosting and a cake mix I had on hand, and plan on decorating them with red sprinkles leftover from Christmas and made blue icing with food coloring. (As soon as my 3 1/2 year old wakes up from his nap we'll decorate). I have to work that night but got sparklers to use during the day. Fortunately fireworks are legal in FL. There are also some great recipes for 4th related desserts from Betty Crocker that inspired me.

Every 4th me and my BF have an outing of some kind. The past 2 we have gone down to San Diego to watch fireworks on the peir. This year we are going to a local military base to watch fireworks and have a picnic dinner. They said they will have a food court but I am sure prices will be outrageous. he likes me to cook and I enjoy doing it.

I am Canadian, but my family came to Canada just before my mom was born, from the United States, we Celebrate Canada Day on July 1st. For our long weekend I will be in a tiny town having a huge family reunion. All I need is to get there, and then it will be a three day party.

Same thing we do just about every year I suppose. Go down to the Taste of Chicago. Get some good eats. Then watch the firework show.

I'm going to be at my boyfriend's aunt and uncle's place with him and a bunch of his family, eating grilled burgers and hot dogs, sipping drinks, getting in the pool and sitting in the shade. Yum!

We are going to the local Fourth of July Parade, Hubby gets to ride on a float because it's his 30th class reunion. We have waterguns tested and ready.

Also staying in the haunted room of the local inn. My 13 year old son loves to watch Ghosthunters and has night vision goggles packed!

We go out to a friend's acreage where about 50 people who includes our closest friends and their kiddos (ages 2 - 14) gather to eat, drink, and play beanbags till we burst. At some point my DH (aka PYRO) will gather all young boys (and some girls) of "age" to shoot off fireworks (and I mean rockets, shells, etc.). When it gets dark we tilt our lawn chairs to the east to watch the professional display and after it is over tilt back to the west to watch PYRO and his young apprentices light off whatever is left.

Get home about 1AM - kids, PYRO and me are pooped, but it is one of my favorite days of the year - right behind Christmas.
