Smile With all the IAms threads going on....

How about showing us all your "poochie"?

    This is ours, Miss. Wrinkles...

She's a Chinese Shar-Pei. She's lost a lot of her wrinkling since born. Will most likely lose the wrinkles to a further degree by the end of her puppy stage. We fell in love with this breed of canine a few years back yet when we took in a rescue of one. She had turned out to be such a great protector that she actually had an oppurtunity in our home where she proved her loyalty to family members. If not for her and her actions, my DH and then 5 month old DD would have come to greater harm when intruders presented at out home. They make great companions as well as protectors. They are a very muscular dog. She's already broken 3 collars by pulling on her leash at times when being walked. This lil gal can already jump from a sitting position on the floor and be able to reach my DH's shoulder height. [DH is over 6' tall.] This gal has also been an escape artist recently. We're constantly having to go catch her due to our 5 y/o leaving the door wide open. She's great with the kids also. Especially the younger ones. She actually lets the 19 month old use her as a seat when she's lying on the floor. He also puts her through the usual tail pulling, ear poking, teasing, and whatever else he can come up with. She tolerates him well.

    Got pics of your poochies?

    Default Moose

This is my dog, Moose, the Great Dane. This is our first very large breed dog. He is 1 year old and so far 115 lbs. He is very sweet with the toddlers when they poke at or sit on him. He, though, can get a little rowdy and knock the babies down with no effort at all. We have to be careful he doesn't clobber someone. He has taken me down several times! It makes me *feel* safe now that we have him because DH works at night. I curse him often for chewing up things and taking food off of the kitchen counter (several whole cakes!) but I love him.

he is gorgeous! i had 2 merle danes, but unfortunately, we had to have one put to sleep a few weeks ago. he was the best dog. he ended up weighing in at 130lbs. this breed does not realize how big they are. dakota always thought he was a lap dog and when they get excited, that tail can feel like a whip if it hits you just right. and your right about feeling safe. people won't mess with you just cause of the sheer size of the danes. excellant breed and very loyal.

This is Onslo. He's a year and half old. He's a Chiweenie. He's loveable and will always have a "puppy" look. He has viciously protected me from many flies and soda cans. He loves the cat because she is fluffy and fun to chase. DH calls him Meatloaf because DH spoils him and feeds him leftovers and then he looks like a little fat sausage. He probably weighs about 5 pounds.

Thanks! Sorry about your dog. How old was he? Moose's tail whips around and because the kids are just the right height, it gets them in the face. We have to be super careful when he gets happy...

    Default Anna

    Picture 058.jpg

This is our spoiled little Bichon named Anna. She just turned 6 years old. She has been the best dog we have ever owned. In June we are getting a golden retriever from Paws with a Cause to raise so it can be trained to be someone's assistant dog. We are so excited. I used 9 coupons to get almost free Iams puppy food.

thank you. he was 8. my other dane is lost without him. they are pretty gentle dogs though. i also have a 3lb pom, and the danes always harrassed her and she would light into them. it was so funny. they have never bothered her or my kids. they're kinda clumsy too!

^^ is the Pom the same size as the Dane's head? Oprah had the world's biggest and smallest dogs on her show a while back. The Chiuaua (sp) was about the size of the big dogs nose. It was hilarious.

More photos, you guys, I love dogs. I do not have one, financially it wouldn't be smart or fair to the dog, so I've claimed my BFFs dog as my own. I've gushed on Scrappy before, and I'll try to get a photo of her. She's just the cutest thing and when she smiles at me, it just melts my heart. She loves her Auntie mnm'z. Scrappy is a pit/boxer mix and looks like Scrappy Doo hence her name. She's hyper and happy and never cranky. This dog has chewed up everything from phonebooks to Christmas presents yes, BFF called me crying and had nearly beat the dog with a 2X4, but Scrappy has outgrown her chewing stage, thank goodness. BFF actually wonders if she'd be a good guard dog, because she's always happy to see EVERYONE, but I know that she'd protect my BFF. She would certainly become vicious if threatened - I have faith in my girl.
