Default save a tree

one other thing you can do for frugal living. i know a lot of us print out tons of IPs and it can use a lot of paper. i have tried to cut down on usage, by flipping the paper over when i can to print on both sides and when i have scraps i cut them into notepad size squares and keep them to write notes/lists on. will definitely help you cut down on buying paper.

Smile A tip I remember seeing was with dryer sheets and

bathtub cleaner.

ok..dryer sheets can be used more than once. What you do is use the dryer sheets once, save them in a container with a lid (old baby wipe container or plastic container), when you get a bunch, you take a cap full of liquid fabric softener and 1/2 to cap of water, dump into the plastic container on top of all the dryer sheets, give a shake, voila - you just rejuvenated them for 1-2 more uses.

Bathtub, sink, shower walls and shower sliding doors:
Take an old bottle, (like windex or fantastik - I use the spray type). After using the contents, rinse it really well. Then fill it half way with white vinegar. Add Water to the bottle to bring almost to the top. Put one capful of LIQUID LAUNDRY DETERGENT (that you have on hand) into the bottle, put cap on, shake good, then spray your walls, doors, tub, and sink. Let sit for awhile, overnight (if yo can handle the smell of the vinegar), then rinse down your tub, walls, doors, and it is shiny and help remove scum build up.

The habit would be to do it everyday, it will streak down the shower walls and keep eating at the scum. You could get really motivated and give it a scrub with a cloth. (totally up to you).

If you need clarification, just PM me.

Smile Also, to clean your microwave and tub drain..

okay.. to clean your microwave (you know how things get heated up and there is food splats everywhere) Instead of spraying chemicals, I just take a glass bowl, I fill it half way with equal amounts of vinegar and water. Sometimes, depending if the kids cooked more popcorn or stuff and it smells bad, I add more vinegar than water. **IF YOU DO, BE PREPARED TO RUN YOUR EXHAUST FAN OR OPEN WINDOWS** - stuff can make your eyes water. Anyway, I turn on for 15 -20 min. (Can be shorter time) but I like to get a good steam built up. then take bowl out, wipe down with cloth. Do at least once or twice a week...it helps.

Tub or sink drain: I take an boil my kettle full of water, when it is done, I take it to the bathroom, and dump baking soda down my drain in the tub so you can see the baking soda strting to fill up and level off with tub, then I dump white vinegar, and the baking soda and vinegar start bubbling up. I follow with the kettle of steamed hot water to flush anything, then run the cold so the kids don't touch the tub and get burned. This helps with the pipes.

Needless to say, I buy my white vinegar by the gallon at the store or wholesale clubs.

need any clarification, PM me.

These tips help to cut down on buying cleaning products and using harsh chemicals.

Default Baking Soda Antacid

Baking Soda mixed in water is an effective antacid to relieve heartburn, acid indigestion, sour stomach, and upset stomach due to these symptoms when used as directed. Instructions and warnings are at the A&H site or on the box.

Me too. They always seem to be the right size too vs. whole sheets.

Use your crock pot, george foreman grill, stove-top and microwave. Batch cook. I use my oven a couple of times a week when I bake bread, brownies, scones, whatever. If you plan meals ahead and know you will need biscuits one night, bake them ahead and freeze them. If you need something for a bake sale, bake, wrap, freeze (or get it out of the house ) When I make pasta, I heat water in the microwave for 2 minutes first before pouring it into the pasta pot. It cuts way down on the amount of time it takes to reach a boil on the stove (drives me CRAZY!) I refuse to turn my stove on just to heat something up. if I do roast a chicken or bake a ham, I throw in some extra vegetables, potatoes, maybe put in a fruit dessert too to take advantage of the heat.

Same thing happening here in KY right now due to our ice storm a few weeks back. People who were without power for 3 weeks are getting $600-$700 bills. It's outrageous. People are livid.

Great tips! Thnaks these are a few I haven't heard. Just to share with you one more tip I learned on dryer sheet. One part liquid softner to four parts water and put in a spray bottle. Take and get washcloths and spray your mixture on the washcloths. Tada- Dryer sheets! Haven't tryed it yet! I like your idea because I probally have a 100 of used dryer sheets in my laudry room right now. I new they would come in handy! One more tip. fill water almost to the top of a spray bottle small amount of bleach, and 3 drops of Dawn dish detergent- Cleans everything, mirrors, stains in carpets! Haven't tryed this yet either! Sorry if this is double post I haven't read all the post yet!
