i know during the summer i was looking at our meter out side and it was going crazy spinning out of control. i had my husband unplug everything in the house too see what was making it go crazy. first you would think it would have ben something big nope the microwave was doing it. we have a side-by-side frig and it did not even make it spin as fast as the microwave did. so i bet unplugging has to help some.

In Arizona we have M-Power. It is pay as you go. There is a box that you plug in and it comes with a card and at the grocery store you put money on the card and then stick it in the slot at home..The machine tells me how much electric we are using per hour, month and year.. So i am able to tell at any given time how much electric we are using..

Last month we spent $120
It is higher in the summer about $200.
We also keep our house cold about 68..and 72 in the summer.
Thankfully we have a block home so it holds in the heat and cold..

There was somone that mentioned an 1100 sqf at over $300 !
I dont see how that is even possible..
My husband is horrible with lights. he will turn 3 on in one room..
I love lamps. So I have many in each room. But not to be turned on at once !

I have also heard of the unplugging and I have attempted it. It did not go over with DH. he pays the bills..So if he needs those things plugged in for whatever.. Well he is the one paying for it !

Here is what I just discovered.

I checked the box at what we were spending per hour and it was at 11 cents. Every light I turned off it went down a cent..So that would mean each light cost 24 cents per day..Right now it is runnng at 6 cents per hour. i cant imagine it would make that big of a difference to unpug everything. I have alot of stuff plugged in and it is at 6 cents. I think maybe it would drop another cent
