My sons are not really picky eaters, but definitely have their moments. In particular my oldest doesn't like cheese (or so he says even though he eats it on Pizza and his favorite food is Mac-n-Cheese....
). I would make Alfredo sauce and tell him it was a butter sauce just so he would eat it. My other son wouldn't eat pork of any sort and I have no clue why, but I would cut it real small and tell him it was chicken. They both loved what they were eating when they thought it was something else... Can anyone else relate?

My daughter didn't know what a cookie was until she was in daycare--we called rice cakes cookies
Funny, now that I think about it, she still likes and buys rice cakes. Don't think theres much nutritional value you in them (better to eat rice than puffed rice) but back then I think my rationale was avoiding the sugar and fat. Seemed like a healthier option. It's so weird once kids decide they don't like something. My son won't eat a take out hamburger if we get home and discover they got his order wrong and put mayonaise on the bun--yet he loves tuna sandwiches which pretty much require gobs of mayonaise. No problem at all w/stretching the truth if it elminates some of the nonsense

My son 6, hates onions and I put them in just about everything. If he sees one in his food I lie and tell him it's cheese or nuts or something and he always seems to believe me!!

Can't say that I have fibbed to get them to eat something but I am guilty of fibbing from preventing them from eating up everything. There were a few chips left in a bag that I had my eyes and mouth set on my oldest son comes in and grabs the bag I told him I licked a chip and put it back in the bag he looked at me kinda funny and put the bag back and said "no sales or Q's for chips this week?"

I don't think we are fibbing, but my toddler thinks broccoli is "trees" and peas are "balls." Two things she's quite interested in at the moment. Honestly so weird last night when we went out to dinner how awful she was acting until mama got trees with her meal. Goodness she acted like she hadn't eaten in a week and got to be in such a better mood eating those trees. I even made more tonight since she enjoyed them so much last night.

Honestly, I can't remember if I did this or not, but I'm surely not above it. I feel that you have to do what it takes to get the veggies and healthy foods into them. My kids were not picky eaters though. When I started introducing baby foods to them (practically at birth), I would just keep giving it to them even if they spit it out. It can take babies several tries before they'll 'learn' to like something. My kids will eat anything and everything. My son requested brussels sprouts for a birthday dinner one year?!?!?!?!
What 9 year old likes brussels sprouts? He also wanted a Lemon cake with Cream Cheese frosting, NOT Chocolate. If your children are picky and don't like veggies, try out Jessica Seinfeld's cookbook. She puree's all of her veggies and hides them in the food she makes. Even her chocolate chip cookies and her brownies have veggies in them. Something to think about. |

I have definately fibbed if not outright lied. I am taller than my husband and my husband does not each vegetables. He hates them with the exception of broccoli, green beans and corn. I really like vegetables. To get my boys to eat veggies I simple told them if they want to be tall like Mommy, they should eat their veggies. If they don't they will wind up like their Dad. (Yes, I am still married) My DH hates it when I do that, but my kids will at least try the veggies.

oh and I forgot, my kids were lactose intolerant and I read somewhere that broccoli and cauliflower were high in calcium so I told them it was either suffer with the runs
or eat your veggies..........we had lots of the stuff in the house![]() they never did figure out that mom did not touch it
