Last year I realized I really needed to do something. Which I had said to myself many times, but at that point it was different, I have surprised myself by sticking to it. My number one fear is putting it back on but I take one day at a time. I have mainly lost the weight by just following weight watchers, when I have time I will work out with the wii fit which I love. But my goal is to get more exercise and to keep eating right. Good Luck to everyone
I am glad that I am not the only one who had weigh tissues with the depo shot. My family said that there is noway a medicine can make you that fat. I swore that was the reason. As soon as I stopped getting the shots I didnt lose weight- but I didnt gain either. Now I am desparate- I hate having eveyone stare at me when I am out around the base. I am serious about losing weight. I just plan on doing the weight watcher sand the Alli pills - I am going to wlak on my treadmill for 30 minutes 3 nights a week. I would rather go out walking around my neighborhood- but my 3 kids nearly make it impossible. I have to keep stopping o wait on them to catch up. I plan on updating this in 2 weeks.I really dont think that I am going to count the pounds- maybe just do clothes sizes- haven't really decided!!

Good luck to all of you! I have been there, when I had my last child I was about 80 LBS overweight. I lost the weight very unhealthily - no details - and now that I'm not drinking, I have been able to keep it off. My job helps, it's very physical (I feel like I do aerobics the entire time I'm working), and moderation. I do not deny myself anything, I just eat small portions (a serving of meat is the size of a deck of cards ). I have not cut out meat, I just eat 'proper serving sizes' and fill up on veggies and more easily digestible foods.

I also watch Biggest Loser - not because I'm trying to loose - my DH would be so very angry at me (I'm 5'8" and 125#), but I love the confidence it gives all the contestants. You watch some of these overweight people get to the campus and they are broken people. At the end of the show, they all have a renewed self confidence because they have accomplished feats that never even entered their minds. The trainers teach all the contestants how to work out, how to eat, AND how to snack (eat Yoplait, folks, 110 calories and curbs the appetite). They also give trainers tips for those at home trying to loose weight. It's on Tuesday nights and its one of the only shows I record and watch right away, I love the show.

Anyway, good luck to all of you, it can be done! It will be done. You need to claim it - truthfully and faithfully. I claimed sobriety - and for today and the last 6 1/2 years - it's mine!

I love Biggest Loser. I have watched every episode of every season !

The only thing is that it kinda says to people that dont know. "hey you should lose 15 pounds a week" What they don't say is that they work out 8 hours a day. 4 with the trainer and 4 by themselfs ! I mean who does that. If I was trying to win $250,000 I may do it. But no one does it 8 hours a day...

So in a way no one is going to achieve what they do in such a short time..

Regardless it is a great show and I love watching their transformation. Last years winner ally lives where I do in Mesa Arizona..

Also what ever happened to losing a healthey 2-3 pounds a week. Did they just throw that out the window or what !

Oh, I agree NayNay, it would be impossible to do what they do. But, there is good information to be learned from watching the show. I've only watched 3 seasons so far, but I'm hooked.

Wow guys, this is awesome, so many of us!

Woohoo, let's start this thing!

Tally 1-21-09:
Coffee 120 cal
1 small apple 80 cal
1 orange 90 cal
1.5 cups Kellogg Shredded Wheat, no milk 270
1 Bliss Bar 90 cal
2 2% String Cheese 140 cal
2 chili dogs ~600 cal
Total: 1390

Due to my work circumstances yesterday, I ended up with no real 'lunch' time. I went in for a training and then found out I was scheduled to work for 4 hours afterward. So I kinda grazed all day. Then dh got hung up at work, hot dogs were a quick dinner as he was starving!

Exercise:

I don't own any exercise equipment, so this may sound comical...
20 reps squats
20 reps leg lunges
I also spent a ten minute break going up and down the stairs. Drove the dog crazy following me.

Doesn't sound like much, but I've been so sedentary that I'm starting at zero, so I feel the burn this morning!

As I'm going to post everyday, I'm also going to try to remember to add my water intake (I'm awful about drinking enough through the day) of 30 ounces, and that I did remember to take my multi-vitamin!

Alright ladies, your turn! What small steps did you take yesterday to reach your goal?

Good Morning.

Shopping today. Will recumbent bike when I get home.

Marla--the stairs thing is a good exercise. Add some hand weights as you run up and down. Cheap bottles of laundry detergent will work.

I haven't been counting calories. I tried this once before by keeping a little spiral notebook in my purse and it just never worked.

I am horrible about eating breakfast.

Yesterday:
90 Cal Special K bar
Leftover lasagna
1/2 piece of garlic bread
Fruit salad (apple, mandarin oranges, cantaloupe, strawberries)
3 square slices of pizza (I tried making an awesome soup for dinner but it didn't work out so we had to throw in a frozen pizza)
10 almond m&m's

Today so far I have had a Special K bar and I have a cup of fruit iin the fridge for lunch. I woke up late and didn't have time to put a lunch together(gotta get better about doing this the night before) so for lunch I'll go to the deli across the street and get a salad.

For dinner I am making a white chicken chili.

Dyanna, your fruit salad sounds wonderful. I shall shop today and I shall make myself a fruit salad. Looks like you had a great day! Yay!

Churn, that's a great idea. I'm going to try that today (no laundry bottles, so maybe I'll start small with cans of Chunky Soup? )

Default First day on the wagon!!

Ok, so yesterday everything went out the window and lunch was catered in from Chili's to my office...then went home to fried chicken and mashed potatoes (not my choice, I wanted grilled), DH won. Anyway, today is a new day, I'm getting the Weight Watchers plan and will start counting points immediately.

Afternoon,

After reading some of your post I figured I may shed some light on why you gained so much weight from being on the Depo Shot.

The reason is because the shot tricks your body into thinking your pregnant! It stops ovulation and thas the reason you no longer have periods! I worked at Planned Parenthood for a year and we talked a lot about BC of course! With your body no longer ovulating it automatically begins to go through the changes as if you were pregnant! I have never taken it bc I choose Orthro Evra patch and loved it! Just thought I would shed some light on why you gained the weight so quickly! (or why at all)

I hope everyone is doing well today with their new found goals and motivation!
