Ok I been reading this thread since I started cpn mom but haven't go the nerve to post! Ok so I'm gonna start seriously dieting, cutting bk ,stop eating so late, snacking wit dh, and stop drinking sweet tea that dh has to have me make everyday wit I hate to say it but 3 cups of sugar a gallon! I'm gonna be bruetly honest wit myself and everyone on here i stepped on my scale today and I'm 283 I'm 5'8 and 21 yrs old I have 40 DDD breast and I have to lose weight! Honestly no one believes I weigh 283! I hold it very well! But I have to start losing weight! My full goal is 120 lbs! I have never been this big! I have gained roughly 40 lbs in the past year! Dh and I are gonna start walking! Personally he doesn't need t lose any i think! We are both unemplyed for the most part in the past 2 months bit I got an interview thursday yay! I really do not have a problem wit the way I look! I am very comfy n the wAy I look! But I'm worried health wise! Diabetes I am scared to deAth of and bp! I'm 21 so if I'm gonna lose the weight o better do it now! Any tips are helpful! I think I'm gonna watch carbs and calories but I need to losethis soon! My short goal is 10 lbs a month! So myabe if I could do this I would be at my goal I 1 yr and a month haha I doubt it but I'm gonn wish! I need you people to be on my a$$ets lol- I'm serious! I need help from you all! I gotta lose this weight! Kinda on the broke side so can't buy gym memberships and dietbooks right now so any recipes diet tips or Anthony else is greatly apprectiated! Thanks for letting me vent! You CAN do this. I was very fearful of diabetes, too...it runs in my family. I'm 45 and almost everyone in my family that's overweight had diabetes by the age of 40...so I felt like a ticking timebomb.

I used Weight Watchers, but I see you are unemployed right now. I recommend you join them once you've obtained an income, but in the meantime, you could get started yourself. The great thing about WW, is you eat real food...you even get treats now and again, but you learn portion control and get the support to realize that food exists to support life...not to make you happy, entertain you, or anything else.

For now, I suggest you read labels and study portion sizes to calculate how many calories you are actually taking in. Write down everything you eat and you will get a feel for what is working for you. Eat less packaged food and more fruits and veggies.

We are ALL here to support this section of the forum Couponfreak - you certainly MUST put your health first. I'm here to help you in any way I can, all of my coupons are ALWAYS available to this section FIRST, no trade necessary as I'm happy that all of you have the will power to make such changes. Change is something that 'some' are not comfortable with, however when your health is at risk, it shouldn't be given a second thought. We all have it within us to be stronger then the candy bar, I think it's a matter of 'want'.....you have to bigger then that bag of chocolate. I have a VERY addicting type of personality and have over come one major addiction. It was not an easy task but I put my health and my Family first and I'm glad I did, I wouldn't have lasted much longer traveling down that same depressing road. Please do the best you can, all of you, and be happy with your results, regardless of how big or small they me.

Glad you joined us!! I am in almost exactly the same situation as you are, but only a little differences in height, weight, and age. I'm young, married, and scared to death of what my health will be like in the coming years! I've decided this is it and I'm working on losing the weight and changing my life. You definitely do not need money for the diet books...there are so many recipes online! Just do some google searches for healthy recipes, WW recipes, South Beach Diet recipes...there's a lot out there. Or if you tell me some of the ingredients you like/have, i'd be glad to send you some recipes from my SBD books. I am so addicted to bread and starches...or was!!! Those were the devil for me! Oh, and check with determinedtosave to join the "Healthy Habits" social group.

Now, for a little advice...120 pounds for someone who is 5'8" is kinda low. THat would put you at underweight or just barely at a healthy weight. You may want to consider reading a little more on the BMI and healthy weight for your height. Even 130 or 140 would be much better

Again, glad you joined, we all need encouragement and there's plenty of it here!

Okay Thanks for all the encouragment! I got up arind 12 cus we didn't go to sleep until 5 lol! Haven ate anything yet but im gonna post everything I eat everyday even it is embarassing! Thank you all so much for being here for me! oH btw I don't wanna BE 120 lbs I wanna lose 110 lbs to make me Around 170 -175! I think this a healthy weight for my height and the way I'm shaped! I would never wanna b 120 again I love the way I look now I just
know it's not healthy! When I look in the mirror I don't see that I need to lose 100 lbs! Maybe 25 but the scale says diff! Like I said I hold my weight well! Thanks again!

couponfreak09- I am doing a weight loss challenge- All the papers and info thta I am getting from my nutrisionist- I can forward to you. I am 5'8" and did weigh 265 and now way 253- that has taken me only 3 weeks for that to come off. plus I have loss 10 inches all over my body. I am watching my calories and DRINKING WATER!!! The first advice to give you is that- well for everyone- take the weight that you are now divide it in half- that is how many ounces of water you should be drinking a day- I have to drink 17 glasses of water a day. I struggle sometimes to get that much- but i tell you my skin is better and my belly inches are dropping. PM me your email and I can send you all the stuff that I am getting.

Thanks for the encouragement! I am happy to be on the weight loss path; I'm even starting to enjoy working out !

To Couponfreak - I'd really recommend walking at least 45 minutes everyday that you can. It really gets your metabolism going and is great for your health. Just focus on lean protein, fruits and veggies and reasonable breads, etc. I try to stay between 1200 and 1500 cals tolose weight. If I'm having a really hard time, I'll have something like a tootsie pop (sweet and chocolate hit) in the evening - not healthy, but it can keep me from falling off a diet. If you have a day when you just splurge, don't worry about it. Just assume it is all part of the process and try to eat healthily the next day. Good luck!!

Okay I'm sad! First off here I what I ate and drank today! I'm gonna be honest!
Sausauge egg and cheese biscuit from bojangles
hot dog wit mayo mustard and bun
split a slushie wit dh
2 bratsworst wit mustard
baked potato wit butter and sour cream
hand ful of mixed nuts
2 (6 oz ) glasses of water
I'm drinking a 12 oz glass of water right now!

Yeah I know I suck! First day and I suck! Bt I was on the go wit dh all day today! I chose no bun wit the brats though that is good right? Gah am I ever gonna b able to do this! I figured it up i need to drink 9 (16 oz ) of water daily! I say 16 cus this is my favorite Georgia glass at home! Thanks for all the advice today! You have know idea how much it means to me! Dh says I don't need to lose weight I'm beautiful and I know that but m health isall that concerns me! He is really supportive of me but today I was fixin me a baked potato while he baked him some fries! He aS like baby their both potatos just eat the fries! But I felt guilty and stuck wi a baked potato guess it reall was the same STARCH grgr I suck! I'm gonna go drink my 12 oz glass of waterNd cry!!!!

Okay, don't put yourself down! Try not to equate what you eat with how good a person you are. It often takes a few days to start making healthier choices. Just gently tell yourself you will start to make some changes.

I will suggest that it will be harder to lose weight if you're eating a lot of fast food and greasy/fried foods. (If you didn't put butter and sour cream on your potato, a baked potato is fine to eat and has way less fats and calories than french fries). If you know you're going to be out, a good alternative is to bring along some food - fruit, granola bar, yoghurt, a sandwich (wheat bread, lean meat, veggies, mustard). Concentrating on adding fruits and veggies to your diet will fill you up and give you some better nutrition. at home, you might want to concentrate on lean proteins (fish, chicken, lentils, beans). Just take it one step at a time and you will succeed.
