Default Hello all-new to the forum

I am new to the forum and just started my weight loss mission. My goal is to lose about 30lbs. I go for walks each day for about 45 min with kids, while they ride their bikes. I also eat a lot of fruits and vegetables. I have also increased my water intake, but being that I dont have much support at home I thought I would come here. I will try to post everyday, and maybe even encourage others when I can.

Oh good! So few people have been on this thread recently. I started dieting in May, and recently switched to a low carb diet; I thought I would try something new since the weight is coming off sooo slowly. I also do a 45-min. walk several days per week and work out 3 days. I've lost 17 pounds and would love to lose the remaining 30 by mid-October (which I know is unrealistic). Just trying to stay strong and do the best I can do. Hope it's going well for you!

Default Any dieters??

Hi! Not many people have been on this thread lately! Most people probably lost their weight earlier this year, but I'm still trying. Anybody still dieting?

Default Haven't posted yet, just found this thread last week

I am definately trying to lose the weight. I started at 240lbs. size 22W. I have been on the diet wagon for abouta month now and though I have only lost 7 lbs, it is a good 7 lbs. I have gone down to a 16-18 depending on the clothes and feel so much better than I have. I was casual the first two weeks and really focused these last two.
I have dramatically cut back on how much food I eat and focus on getting the right kinds of food. (Whole grain, veggies, lean protein) I have also started following workout videos offline, a 30 cardio in the morning, and a 20 minute strength in the evenings-alternate between two.
I feel like I want to get down to about 160 but am more focused on the measurements than the number. Mainly I want to fit into a 10 comfortably no matter the cut. I estimate somewhere around mid April of next year to fully reach my goals, but I am hoping the willpower stays long enough for me to get there!
Good luck to the rest of you out there!

Sounds like you're doing a great job with food choices and exercise! Seven pounds is a great weight loss.

I'm still on a low carb diet and just taking it a week at a time, which seems to be working. It's hard for me to think of long term, so I'm focusing on the present. I've lost 20 lbs. in 3 months and would love to lose 20 more by October!

Good progress. I know it sounds cliché but hopefully slowly means permanent :-)

I was just curious as to how you guys get motivated to actually go out and exercise? I have been unemployed for over a year (was laid off) and I have gained quite a bit of weight, I am very disappointed in myself and everyday I think to myself ok tomorrow I will start exercising, but I am very unmotivated, I really need to do something, I fear even having to go for a job interview at the weight I am at now, we all know that extra pounds make people think differently of you, and unfortunately I am not getting any younger either, so I know I need to start doing something but I CANNOT seem to get my self to exercise, any ideas how to do it? I love salads and vegies so I could start eating better but one of my worst habits is Pepsi, I drink tons of it a day I hate water (really hate it) so I know that will help to but I thought maybe if I could get myself exercising first. Then when that starts to make me feel better I will try to give up the soda, anyone who drinks alot of soda knows that if you give it up all at once you end up suffering from caffeine withdraws (at least that is what the doctor told me I was having the last time I gave it up) It was awful.... Anyways enough rambling anyone have any motivational ideas to get me off the couch and out of the house??

I have the most awsome support system my husband. We have a dedicated time everyday that he is home that while he cleans the house I am on our treadmill for at least 30 min. SO the house is all done by the time I walk or jog and take a shower and get refreshed. It is nice. Also- You mentioned that you drink tons of Pepsi and NO WATER- That is also why you have gained so much weight. Even if you do start to work out- You will not lose that much weight becuase you need water in your system to do that. I too was a huge Cherry Pepsi drinker- I could go through about a 12 pack in a full day with no water either. THen I started to work out but still wasnt losing any weight. THen my husband told me to start drinking water. I started to drink water- and weight started to come off and also my skin appeared better and It wasnt so dry!!!

Needing motivation? Try watching the Biggest Looser. I don't know, that show really inspires me. I don't need to loose weight, but I've maintained for several years. The contestants on that show are amazing, they work hard for their weight loss and the inner transformations are Kleenex worthy, IMO. The trainers offer tips for food and exercise and you really can learn a lot of important information. I understand that there is no way a normal person with a normal life can accomplish all they do, but as with any important lifestyle change, it'll take baby steps to start.

The new season starts in September, but FLN and Real TV (I think) are running re-runs of old seasons right now.

I know I love that show as well, I am going to really try to get my lazy behind in gear and see if I can at least start walking around the block then I will go two blocks and so on and I will see how that goes, and I am going to cut down on the soda, today I didn't have my first soda until around 3:00 I usually wake up with one so I will see if I can slip in a few glasses of water (yuck) SO my goal for tomorrow will be to walk around the block and drink two glasses of water. Yesterday I did get a little exercise, I mowed the lawn with an old fashion push mower I know not much but at least I did something. Thanks for helpful comments, I'll let you know how tomorrow goes.
