Default Coupon Nazi at 125 E. Stearns Rd., Bartlett, IL, 60103

My letter to corporate of JewelOsco says it all. I don't remember the exact saying - but the book title of "Satisfied Customers Tell Three Friends, Angry Customers Tell 3,000" is certainly true and in this digital age it is too easy to tell many friends when you are unhappy with customer service.

I am absolutely furious. I am also embarrassed and frustrated. I can not believe what I went through this evening at the store at 125 E. Stearns Rd., Bartlett, IL, 60103. The lady who identified herself as the "supervisor/manager" was the cause of my anger and the source of my embarrassment and frustration.

The short version is that she felt I had gotten a good enough deal by purchasing products using a number of coupons and only owing $1.17 and that it wasn't necessary for me to receive the $15 in coupons from the Proctor and Gamble promotion towards future purchases. I had to stand there and argue with her for quite some time before another employee came along and said that she would print the coupons for me.

Even when I thanked the other employee for doing this the "supervisor/manager" was still telling me I had purchased the wrong products, I can only earn the coupons by purchasing what is in the picture, it was my fault that the coupons hadn't printed, I should appreciate the favour they were doing by printing the coupons when I hadn't earned them and that "It's not my problem, it's your problem".

Excuse me – it's my problem that the computer wasn't programmed correctly? Um, no, that would be the store's problem and up to the store to correct.

At any rate, do not have this lady contact me unless it is a written apology. Actually I expect, at a minimum, a written apology. I'm not sure what else I expect; at the moment I can't think what would be appropriate to resolve this to my satisfaction.

    Sincerely,

So this just keeps getting better.

Went to check out a CVS on my way home, got to the register. No wallet. Sigh, I was so upset the other night at Jewel I left my wallet there (I hope). I'm praying that everything is still in it, but if I can just have my driver's license back I'll be happy. On an up note I didn't leave a single coupon behind!

As I'm on the way there I return the call to the store manager who had left me a voice mail and give him a few more details. I ask him to check and see if my wallet is around and it was! Even had credit cards, cheques and cash still in it. I admit that I was angry and hadn't treated the 'supervisor/manager' fairly, but he says that the situation shouldn't have got to that point. He offers me $15 GC (which I accept). The manager lets me know he's leaving for the day, but he'll leave my GC with my wallet. All I have to do is ask at the customer service counter.

Guess who's manning the service desk and has probably just been chewed out by her boss?!?!? She grabs my wallet from the locked drawer and is as sweet as can be.

The sad part is, although I am grateful for the GC (very grateful given my lack of $$$), I realize the only thing that would satisfy me is for this to have never happened. I have no satisfaction from writing corporate, no satisfaction in knowing I got an employee in trouble and no satisfaction from the GC.

I want the self-respect back that I allowed the manager to take from me and the only person who can give it back is me. I want to be able to walk into that store and not have to cringe at the sight of the one employee I know may give me a hard time. This isn't the first time she's done this to me - just the first time I've complained. I know what I'll do, which isn't the right thing, but I'll change the Jewel I shop at. It is so unfortunate as this one is right on my way home and is always fully stocked. I just don't want to ever encounter this woman again. Man I hate being made to feel like a thief.

I think it is time for snuggling with my DS. At this point (7mos) he's very much like my dog. Loves me more than himself.

Good for you for standing up for yourself and getting compensation for the time and trouble that manager caused you.

I had a similar situation a year or so ago at a grocery store where I shopped regularly. The clerk CS was rude to me as well. I complained to corporate and within 24 hours the store manager called me to apologize and offered me a GC too. Like you, I appreciated the efforts they made to keep me as a customer.

Through what site/venue are you guys contacting corporate? I had an issue with one of the $15s not printing which the manager agreed I should have gotten but did not and yet she could not help me which I don't get and referred to me to customer service(online).

I sent an e-mail which apparently was forwarded to the marketing deparment. I actually got an e-mail just like the one above that you got canadial. So after waiting a week with no response from marketing, I e-mail again and get a response saying they are sending me $15 in Jewel brand item coupons. I respond saying no thanks as I prefer the deal I went for being coupons I can use on anything.

I then get another response saying I need to go back to the store(who could not help me before) as the sales manager reported that "the system" was wokring great.

    Ummm...yeah
