I am looking for someone in the overland park / olathe area that would be interested in trading their price list? I could trade for coupons or something
![]() I realize the time and effort it takes to make the list and would be more then happy to make it worth your while. please send a private message if interested. |

Price lists are "average" prices for items. For example, it seems like I can get shredded cheese (8 oz) for $.99 pretty often. So I have it listed in my price book - then if shredded cheese goes less than that - I know to buy as much as humanly (and budget will allow) as possible.
I probably have a price list for about 25 - 30 items. But would always be willing to see others intelligence.

Is it possible to start making a list of a bunch of items with REGULAR prices (non-sale / coupon) for different stores in the KC area so can see who is the cheapest on given items?
Let's say, for example, Dannon Activia yogurt...it's typically around $2.80 at a lot of the grocery stores, but it's about $2.00 at Wal-mart. I'd like to start listing items with the store that's the cheapest in Kansas City area WITHOUT sales, and think it would be beneficial to all. Would be quite an undertaking, but if we had people that shop Hen House, Target, Wal-Mart, Wal-Mart Neighborhood (prices not the same there as supercenters), Hy-vee, Pricechopper, etc., could make a good beneficial list. I don't mind shopping more than one store if there's a lot of stuff quite a bit cheaper from one store to the next that I regularly buy. It just seems there's a lot of variation and some things are significantly under other stores, but not uniform across products. What about a sticky thread that we all contribute to and a moderator / one person edits the first post of with updates? |

I am fairly new to this site...how do you get to the social groups? I seen a thread once that took me there. I will search for it as well We could probably put some sort of shared document there that everyone could update and contribute too, and just print out. Fantastic idea! |

Great idea! I too, would have to figure out where to go and how to use it, but I did a price book several years ago & would be happy to contribute my input as well as update some things. Most of it's in my head now

I love it! I'm mostly a mental price book, too. But I could be convinced to contribute to a group spreadsheet. That's a splendid idea. It would spread the load. The sticky list is one idea, but a spreadsheet is what I have in my head. You could have items down the left (grouped by grocery aisle? or alphabetical with a column for "aisle/department" so you could sort by department?). Anyway, along the columns I would think we could see dates, so you could maybe see the cycle of low price in addition to location. This is numbers, so I'm getting pretty excited. I think at this point I've got the whole spreadsheet laid out. I have no idea how to share an Excel spreadsheet over the web, but if we can figure it out I know how to program bells and whistles into it.
Or am I making this too complicated? |
