Default Why don't people like HEB?

I've seen comments about people not liking HEB. Is it because you have a bad HEB or are there better stores around?.

Near me I have Randalls and their sales prices are usally higher than HEB regular prices. SuperTarget that has a smaller selection and bad produce but I think their prices are about the same. Walmart - but haven't grocery shopped there in years because it's "out of my driving loop" - I think prices are about the same as HEB.

HEB, here at least, has the best combo of price/selection/quality.

    Default not lovin' HEB

Hmmm, I have a HEB w/central makets organic selections. I don't actually shop there much because its always jam-packed on the weekends and most of their offers are for really processed foods. I use Kroger for my main shop and Randalls for their specials. So really I just find that its a lot more work to do a weekly shop at HEB than it is to go to the other two.

They don't double q's . That's basically it. It's more of a monopoly here so they don't have to work hard to keep your business. I've been pricebooking Walmart and Target, so if I want to save more I have to shop 3 stores. It infuriates me every time they give a "buddy buck." I don't think they are my buddy at all.

Oh but Julie the kids love Buddy Bucks! LOL My son scored a 20 point sticker today in that machine. We are saving up

For us living in the valley, there isn't any other choice but HEB and Walmart. I think once I've figured out how to play the game at HEB things have gotten a little better. I do wish we had a double coupon store around here, but we can't have everything.....I sure do miss Kroger.

    Default No other choice

Personally, I have a problem with HEB because they have the monopoly here and they know it. There are NO other grocery stores in a 50 minute driving radius. We do have a Target and Walmart, but they can be pretty hit or miss when it comes to food. Each HEB location seems to make their own rules up about q's, which can be frustrating too. It would be wonderful to have a grocery store that doubles, but I would be happy with one that actually takes coupons period not just depending on the cashier's mood.

HEB honestly has prices better than Target AND WALMART!!!!!! I actually compared the prices myself and there was a BIG DIFFERENCE! HEB offers store only deals called combo loco and meal deals where you purchase one or two items and then get the listed items on the in-store coupons FREE. The meal deals are absolutely amazing. You purchase one or two main course items and you get the rest of the meal free. No store just gives you free items except HEB. I know they're a locally based store, but coming from all over the US I've never seen a grocery store like it. They have IN-STORE COUPONS FOR EVERYTHING. Honestly, you can't turn a corner in HEB without saving money. I wish they were everywhere. Their meat and produce are the the absolute best I've ever encounted.

I don't hate HEB....In my town we have Krogers, HEB, Target, Walmart and a bunch of smaller grocery stores that are geared towards Hispanics. I usually go to Krogers and get whatever good coupon deals they have going on and use HEB as my needs store. I like to go to Target too, especailly when they have a store coupon that I can stack with a Man. coupon for great deals. I like each store for different reasons....Krogers because they double coupons and I can download coupons onto my card, and they send me coupons in the mail. HEB because they have the lower prices on items and there in-store coupons can give you some great deals and the lower price on produce. I really don't go to Walmart or the other grocery stores at all.

I have shopped at HEB for the first time in eight years. I have shopped at Kroger somethings are good with coupons and the manager specials they have are great. There's were I get my meat from and other things marked down. But I like HEB cause of the in store coupons, on my last trip I saved twenty dollars just on manufactor coupons and their coupons. For a family of four I spend 50-70 dollars every two weeks and when I tell DH how much I saved he is thrilled.
