Default Staples Rewards??? Are they for real???

Life sure has changed since I found the coupon life 8 months ago. Can't remember life without them. Went through all the "stages" but haven't got to the binder yet (prob soon). I do 3 grocery stores, plus walmart, riteaid, and CVS/BigY when I have to and it is tiring but got to the point where I am handling it well and thought I would add staples to the mix as the stockpile is pretty good and deals have been thinner (or I'm more selective maybe). So I use Cm and a local blogger in the Berkshire area, make my list and stop by Staples. I really do not know what to expect. Didn't do the research on "Staples rewards" before the shop. I had 10-12 things on the list but since it was my 1st time I just got the 3 freebies. I got 2 packs of duracell batteries, AA and AAA, I think they were a 16 and a 24 pack, and I got two reams of the paper the said was free. Felt funny at the register giving them almost $40 cash (had my battery coupons to take a couple bucks off) but not feeling so good. You know that feeling when your not sure how they are gonna get ya and keep your money right? Well, I make the purchase, throw the stuff in the back seat, careful to put the receipt and my shopping printout in my pocket, and head over to walmart to meet the wife which is why I need the binder, I cannot get the wife to stick to whats on the list, (nono that Q on my desk!!!). So almost a week goes by before I can login to staples rewards and it takes me 10-15 minutes to figure out I don't have to do anything!! They are planning to send me a check for $37.96. No hoops, catches, or gotcha's. If your already doing staples this doesn't surprise you but if your not doing staples at least once or twice a month you should give it a try!! Free batteries I am impressed!!!

Office Depot and Office Max have similar rewards programs but you don't get a check. Sometimes they run specials that give 100% rewards (you get the rewards every quarter I think). Office Max I ordered 2 cases of paper and it was around 80.00 but 100% reward allowed me to then order 80.00 in ink. I know it is not as good as getting a check back but at least you get more for your money. If you have to buy ink anyway, why not get 2 free cases of paper?

I do quite a bit with Staples & Office Depot and I don't think I have ever gotten a check but I have really enjoyed getting free stuff & I have no problem using up the store credits.

Are you sure you're getting a check and not a Staples "gift certificate"? That's what my rewards always are...

I just deposited a check in my bank this week from Staples for $16.76. I think that was for the easy rebates ( I receive those alot when it's back to school time). I also receive their Staple rewards every quarter?? which is to be used in their store. Love those too! I had $40 this last time to put toward purchases. They make it very easy online to do the rebates too.

Nope, not sure I am getting a check, not sure of anything yet, I thought it was a check but could be a store credit I guess, but if that's the case it'll be used on their future "free stuff", I'll keep rolling it like a UP+ Reward, a little harder but same in the end.

Have been couponing 3+ years, never used an office store rewards. Guess I am a bit behind! I just buy my cheap kodak ink and cheap paper at Walmart. I use rechargable rayovac batteries. I'll have to look into this once I get to Hawaii.

Just a warning you cannot roll Staples Rewards. I you use Rewards or even a store coupon to pay for a product, your Rewards for the product will be reduced my that amount. So basically if you use Rewards to pay, you will not receive Rewards. You can roll Rewards into Easy Rebate items, however, and still get the Easy Rebate. HTH.
