    Default Upromise Question

I tried to sign up for Upromise, but then it was talking about credit card information and monthly income. Do I need a credit card to get a Upromise account? If so, do I have to use my credit card each time I want my purchase to go towards my account? I'm very confused. Help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I don't think you have to tie a credit card to your upromise account, however if you dine out/shop at any of their participating stores, they won't have any way to credit you without that credit card being tied (and you paying with it). AFAIK you can just set the account up with your loyalty cards and only get points for those things.

I agree with Stef, as far as I know they only need your CC info for the dining out rewards.

Ok. Thanks. What about grocery stores? Is the account automatically connected to the loyalty card? For example, if I shop at Randalls and I use my Randalls loyalty card, is the amount that goes towards Upromise already set up so that I pay in cash? Do I need to use a credit card? Do I need to go online and set something up? Can I pay in cash? How do I find participating products?
Also, I got an email saying that I am a member even though I did not give my credit card information. Is that a mistake?

You have to sign up via the upromise site, and enter your loyalty card numbers, and I think now they make you load the upromise coupons onto your account. Otherwise you don't need a credit card... I think they will send you any rewards via check. I have Sallie Mae student loans, so I just have those hooked up to my account and put my rewards towards paying them off. I also have my cards hooked up even though I don't think I've ever dined out somewhere that gave me rewards, lol. My mom also has her info hooked up to my account and I've gotten some rewards from some of her dining out. Pretty neat.

They used to give your credit for buying participating products at grocery stores, like Land O Lakes and Viva, but it looks like that program has ended. Now it looks like only the ecoupons give credit.

If you register to CC then you can get dining out rewards. Mostly smaller local restaurants but some of our favorites are included.

You can also get credit for shopping online through their links. Lands End is a big one for me.

I have $242 and hardly use it, but have been registered since 2001. Hey, free money is always good.

Thanks for everyone's help! The way I understand it, 1 percent of your grocery spending goes toward the Upromise account and from what you've said if you buy participating products with an ecoupon a percentage of the amount will go towards your account. Is this correct?

I think the 1% of grocery spending only counts if you get approved for and use their Upromise credit card.

But I don't need a Upromise Credit Card to receive other benefits from Upromise, right? Can I just have a Upromise account with my Randalls card and then when I buy qualifying products I get $ toward my account?
Is there somewhere on the sight that I can get further clarification? Thank you all sooooo much for your help. I've been wanting to try this for a while, but every time I get on the sight I get intimidated because I don't know what I'm doing. I hope everyone is having a great spring break!
