    Default Just getting started...

Hi All. I have been cutting coupons for a long time, but just discovered this site yesterday and figure I'll give it a try. I have a couple questions about this system. I get coupon phamplets delivered in my regular mail, not the Sunday paper. Are these coupons in the database? The one I got today is from Smart Source. If it is in the database, what date do I put on it?

Also, if I'm not cutting coupons until I see what savings are listed on the site, then what happens if I need a coupon for something that is not on sale?

    Thank you for any input.

First, welcome to the forum, I think you will like it here. To answer your question, the date should be 1/29. Most people get their coupons in the Sunday paper so it will always be Sundays date. The next question is precisely why some of us use a binder system to file ours. Some of us do the Coupon Mom system, some use a binder system and some do a combination by clipping what they think they may use and leaving the rest whole. I have a binder with baseball card holders to file mine in. For coupons I know I won't use, I file by date. I keep them in case a free deal or money maker comes along. Even though I may not use those products, I will get them to donate. HTH

I like the binder system best. If I am not going to do my regular shopping, I do not take it with me but I will usually put a few coupons in my purse just
in case there are some good un-advertised deals. To me, having the uncut inserts numbered and filed at home does me no good when I go to the stores and
see things on sale I did not see in an ad or clearance stuff.

I always try to research here first; I spend about 4-5 hours a week couponing not including shopping which is always longer when you are looking for deals. I always get at least two papers a week and cut one circular and file the other. Unless I know I will use the extra coupon. I file my cut coupons in my binder and ALWAYS bring it with me to the grocery store, Target or Wal Mart. Since I have gotten serious in January, I always save at least 50%!

    Good Luck!

Welcome. I myself have found this site more useful than others out there. As you see some people clip everything some use the couponmom system. If you bring a smaller type binder with baseball cards with you so when you find a really good deal then you can take advantage of it.

    Good luck.
