Question Nielsen Homescan Consumer Panel - Anyone else do this?

Trying to find out if anyone on CM participates in the Nielsen Homescan Consumer Panel?

I received an e-mail asking if I'd like to join - of course I did. I just received a second notfication that my scanner was shipped. I'm trying to find out the benefits, if any, to participate.

Hi ... I also qualified last year for their program, but at the final step - just before they shipped the scanner, I called their CS and asked more questions. Basically, you have to scan each and every item you purchase - even the items your kids purchase (one teen left at the time), to earn your points for products. I decided that I would never be able to 'keep-up' scanning my purchases, let alone my husband and teen, so I canceled. Maybe others here have had better luck with the scanning process.

I qualified and I tried it for a short time. I never could keep up with all the scanning and stuff, just too much going on in my house. I returned mne it was too much hassle for me. I have heard from others that if you can keep up with it you can earn nice things with their points.

I'm going to give it a try, but I have a feeling I may not be able to keep up with it. I have so much going on in my house, that my coupons stacked up again and I have to clean out my binder on top of many other things. The kids are in school, I'm applying for grad school and trying to study for the enterance exam, I volunteer at my kids school, and on and on. We'll see how it goes - not enough hours in the the day

I have never heard of this, but was just curious, how do they know you didn't scan everything?

I just got a qualification survey email from Neilson the other day. They said that they had an opening and needed a little more info from me. I am excited to try this out.

I have being a part of the panel for over a year now. It does get time consuming but it's nice when you can "cash out" for stuff. I have missed scanning things here and there but overall I try to catch most things. My biggest problem is remembering to submit every week.

i dont find myself scanning all that much really, you actually only need to scan once a week. they need one submission per week really. and i chose to only scan one or two of my weekly trips... you dont even get extra points for extra submissions lol so it works out gals and pals!

My MIL used to do this and they gave her a really nice toaster oven for free.

I got my scanner yesterday and did my first scan today. Really not hard -- just had trouble transmitting. I think I'll give it a try -- they have some really nice gifts. You can also do surveys on-line and on the scanner to earn more points.
