I have comcast. I rent their modem from them *bad idea* and have it hooked to a router. I could print when I had 2 pc's connected - no problem. Try it.

My best guess is that it tracks your motherboard, cpu, memory and hard drive id info to establish your "machine ID". I've spent more than a couple hours trying to work-around this with no joy. Including swapping out hardware. You do not have to move the printer from box to box. Simply share the printer on the box it's connected to and install the shared printer on your other machines.

Hmmm, interesting it's tied to the HW, obviously, if you went through these great lengths, no 'fooling' the 'brains'

I have 2 here in the den, plus DH's laptop (which I can only use if it's an emergency). And when I'm really on a roll I'll hit mom & dad's house (if SIL hasn't beaten me to it).
