Hi ... I use a 3 inch, 3-ring binder with baseball card plastic inserts. When a coupon is too big, I just fold it. I divided my sections in alphabetical order (Baking, Cereal, Meat, ect ...) and sub-divided where needed. Also, I have a 3-ring, two-zipper pencil holder in front that I use the big pocket for lists, coupons, ect ... and the little zip pocket when I am at the actual store shopping = when I reach the check-out, I have all my coupons ready to go.

Just begin somewhere and you can 'fine-tune' as you go along.

kb999999 - Just curious, as I am trying to motivate myself to set mine up - do you have stacks different coupons (organized) in each slot, i.e., all toothpaste coupons in one slot, all bodywash in another slot, etc. Or do you have only one kind of q in a slot, i.e., Colgate Total Whitening coupon in one slot, then Crest toothpaste in another slot. Does that make sense or am I getting tired here... ?

Oh, and I should have read through more carefully your last statement: "Just begin somewhere and you can 'fine-tune' as you go along." I think I will take your advice there. Thanks kb999999!

Luvtosave is right. As you go along you can tweak your binder to your liking.

For me, I just wanted to get it done so my coupons are in catagorized sections but in my sections, I just threw them in to get it done LOL. I figure later I can organize them better like have one page in my "Paper products" section for TP and another page for paper towels etc.... Some day LOL...

Well ... I am really organized in my head and started the binder setup really early on, because 'digging' in envelopes were driving me crazy, I was misplacing coupons, finding great unadvertized sales/clearance and not having all my coupons with me = I had to 'pass up' some good deals.

Anyway, to answer your questions: I try to place all brands in their own pockets - toothpaste: crest, aquafresh, and colgate each have a brand-pocket. All manual toothbrushes in one pocket, bodywash seperated by brand (Olay, Softsoap) each have a brand-pocket, along with shampoo, soaps, ect ... easier for me to quickly locate the coupon I need

I like to open a tabbed section and easily find what I am looking for and have used my binder over two years now. Since I fill it with new coupons each week, I never have to look to hard and loose none. I usually spend about two hours each Sunday cutting out the coupons and filling them away, while watching a TCM classic movie or listening to music. Kim in AZ

Default Kids have a plan to organize me

I have trouble with coupon holders and the binders...just a dexterity thing on my part...My kids have decided to place a large shoe pocket hanger on a wall, and label each pocket with very specific coupon names/categories. Then they think I should use a dedicated box for the shopping cart with large, easy to read dividers. I like their plan. Goodness knows I have tried and failed enuf of my own ideas. Maybe, I will have a pic to post soon.

I caved and bought one packet of baseball card holders to try out the binder method. After 3 hour of cutting old coupons to fit into the sleeves and only making it to the 3rd page, I took one look at it and realized that it wasn't organized to my liking (it looked messy). So... I took all my coupons back out and put them back in my small tackle box where they are neatly orgnanized by category and am happy as pie. For now. I am going to try a few more organization methods with the sleeves and if they still aren't to my liking, I will stick to my trusty organized tackle box and call it a $6 (cost of the sleeves) lesson learned.

Kim in AZ - thanks for the tips. I started organizing last night but only got through food items. I like your ideas about organizing toothbrushes, soap, etc., so I think I will try that too! Many thanks.

Default a way I organize coupons

I found a way for me that might work...I have a cd holder that has the pockets and I had label each slot for different couons and I belive that might work for me..I put for store coupons, bogo, miscellaneous, soon to be expired coupons. than I labeled the rest of the slots. I have different catagories..Like for my grandbaby I have a slot for diapers, one for wipes and food, juices etc...that is what I am going to try..

http://forum.couponmom.com/members/tlc-albums-coupon-notebook.html

this is mine... I keep different amounts for the same item in their own slot too...
if I have Q's for 1.00/2 crest... those go in one and and the .50 off each crest will go into anther (usually right next to it...)

sometimes I run out of room and have to stack them in the same spot, then I put the best deal on top... chances are that if I catch it on sale and want to buy it... getting the best deal now (and getting 5 of them) I wont need to get them again for a long long time...
