Question One coupon per purchase ?

Hi,
I am wondering what does this mean on a coupon? "one coupon per purchase"

Does this mean that if I buy 10 items and have 10 coupons can I use them all in 1 transaction?

Or do I have to do 10 separate transactions?

Thank you!

Default I think it means....

In my experience it means you need to have 1 coupon for each item and you can use as many coupons in a single transaction as you are allowed to buy. Sometimes with a sale you are only allowed so many in a single transaction, like $1.99/gallon limit 3. I never let that stop me from going right back in for another cart full, especially if the sale is faboo.

It can be taken either way. Depends on the cashier really. IME and the times this has been said to me, I simply hand the coupons back and state very matter of fact that each item is being purchased and that I only have one coupon per item...thus one per purchase. Haven't been denied yet.

Now one per transaction is a little harder to get around, but I still just tell the cashier no problem. I'll need to do XX amount of transactions then. That usually gets them to do them all at one time.

I recently had an issue at Target with this very thing. I was trying to use some Head & Shoulders $1.00 off coupons to buy the sample sizes (to donate), and the cashier told me she could only use one coupon. When I asked why, she said that the coupon said only one coupon per purchase. I said that I was only using one coupon per item, but it didn't matter. So I told her to take all of them off of the bill and just give me the one that I could use the coupon for. I then went over to customer service and they told me that when a coupon says one coupon per purchase, that I would just have to stand there and have the cashier do as many seperate transactions as I have coupons for. Good grief! And we all know that if I hadn't been buying the sample size with the coupon, they never would have even seen the very small print that says "one coupon per purchase", and even if they had, they wouldn't have paid any attention to it. She was looking that closely at my coupon to see if it excluded the trial size, which it didn't. Oh well, I'll just be doing a lot more transactions at Target from now on!

I've learned to tell them, "The computer is programmed with the coupon rules. Please scan it and see if the computer takes it. If it beeps at you, then it can't be done. But if it takes it, it's OK."

Default thank you!

Thank you for your input.

I think next time I go to the store that I have had an issue with I willask them to just scan the coupons and see if they go through.
