Default New to HT questions

Does it really look like they'll triple once a month?

Do they restock nightly? If I miss something one day, might I find it the next day?

Do any of you HT regulars have any helpful tips for triples?

Thank you!

They last tripled the week of March 24, so yes, it looks to be monthly. I'm not sure if they'll do it again the 3rd week of May. (I hope so!)

Regarding restocking... YMMV. Depends on your store. I hit about 3 to 4 HT's in my area, so I do pretty well on Triple weeks...

Couple tips:

Get there EARLY on the 1st day. Most of us couponers have the EXACT same coupons you do, and as the old saying goes: The early bird gets the worm... (or the FREE stuff in this regard...)

Hit multiple HT's if possible. The 1st HT I visited didnt' have the Skintimate Shaving gel (my wife loves this stuff), but the 2nd one did. I got 4 bottles for free...

Hope this helps

what he said...

also, i suggest going a couple days before to scope out what qs you have vs prices or at minimum use the express lane on HT's website, it helps me eliminate a lot of qs/items that won't be that great of a deal.

like ray i have quite a few HTs to choose from, that is a better bet for me than thinking they are going to restock. during triple weeks i have found it is more the warehouse that is out of stock so the stores couldn't restock items if they wanted to.

and always check back here during triples week. i constantly see an item mentioned that i forgot.

i have been so busy the past week, i haven't been able to really enjoy this triple. only got to the store once. keep your fingers crossed, i hope to get there this evening for one last run.

I only have one HT in my city so that's all the shopping I do.

1. Our grocery manager told me they get a truck every other night so at my store so what they have on the shelves on Wednesday morning is usually all they have until the new truck comes on Thursday night and they restock by Friday morning.

2. The same manager also "hinted" to doing triples more frequently now so whatever that means (he wouldn't budge when I tried to get him to elaborate).

3. Our registers are programmed to only double/triple 20 coupons at a time so be careful with how many you use in one transaction.

4. I agree with Ray...Get there early AS EARLY AS POSSIBLE. This past Wednesday I was there by 8:15 (the earliest I could get there) and there was a great amt of stuff available. By 10:00 lots of things were wiped out.

5. Of course you know to count your coupons before you start checking out and know about how much you are supposed to spend.

6. Get rainchecks whenever possible. You may not be get a chance to use them this time but perhaps you will be able to use them the next go around. Especially if the item is a good price and you know it doesn't go on sale that often.

I'll add more if I think of anything else.

Thanks, everybody.

I have a HT 14 miles from me, next closest one is 25 miles away, so unless I'm going to be with the BF in his town I'll be sticking to the one.

The manager told me today they get trucks here on Tuesday and Saturday nights, so I'll be going on Wednesdays and Sundays it looks like.

I have learned a lot this week. I will shop til I drop when I go on Wednesdays to get each item or it might all be gone!

nerdy,
If you go on Sunday make sure you pick through the morning q's first. But do it early I didn't get there until 10:30 and didn't get most of the items with the new q's (everyone else had the same idea)

I normally hit HT almost everyday of the sale.
The first day is for freebies and sale items only.
The second and third days are for items I use on a regular basis and are good deals but not free.
Sundays are for the new q's
Monday I often skip (I just get tired of shopping)
Tuesday the last day of the sale I go see what they have restocked and get more freebies (it doesn't pay to get there too early they are still stocking the shelves. I go around 8:00). Today I managed to get the Kraft BBQ sauce free (they were out of stock on Sunday) more Mahatma rice, Viva paper towels and more free tortilla chips.

My store is very strict about the 20 q's per day and I honor that. I know a lot of people try to abuse that rule and do several transactions in one day. If everyone did that eventually HT would have to stop doing triples to stay in business.

I hope this helps you out.

Basically what everyone else said, go EARLY. I'm lucky and now I'm babysitting and pick the kid up at 7am so this past week I just went to the store on our way back to my house and they still had pretty much everything. By noon they were out of some of the stuff and by 4 when I went to help a friend on her first triples, they were out of most of it.

1 suggestion is to make a list and pull your q's. I make an A list, a B list and a C list (which has everything else). The A list is all the things I KNOW are going to get gone quick, the freebies and if something is out of stock I'll grab something off my B list.
I pull the q's I know I want to use and put them in the baseball card sheets in the front of my binder. That way I'm not flipping through and envelope or through every section of my binder to get the q's I need, it's a lot quicker.
And this past trip I started doing something that helped out tremendously. I'm walking around with my shopping list anyways, and I carry a pen. Every time I throw an item in my cart I make a tally mark at the top of my list showing how many q's I'm up to. That way I'm not constantly counting the items in my cart to see how many more I can get, just do a quick glance and I know how many I'm up to.

More good ideas. Thank you!

I'm figuring out a system using envelopes and putting 20 Q's in each one, and how to re-use the envelopes a few times each.
