Default I'm so fired up right now!!!!!!!

I just got back from Wal-Mart and needless to say I am steamed! I started off trying to price match the Beauty and the Beast combo pack in electronics. Toys R Us had them for $22.99 and I had a 10 cp. The guy said I had to pick one or the other. I said Why? you can price match and use cps on groceries. He refused so my husband went to a manager while I finished shopping. The manager also said no. Any way got up to the register with my stuff and the lady up front was difficult. She matched the first item and said I'll do this but next time bring your ads. My ads were in the cart!!!! She price matched almost everything and got to BBQ sauce from Kroger and said you can't do this because its part of their buy 10 items get so much off, I already knew this because I had several things already rung up and in the cart. Who knows how many of those 10 items were already sacked up. Anyway I put the rest back. The lines were backed up almost to the clothing and I was humiliated. Why do these cashiers have to make us feel so bad for couponing? She said I'm sorry but Wal-mart is cracking down; a lot of people take advantage you know. I said I don't( I read and reread ads and cps just to avoid problems like this) but of course it wasn't directed at me just those few bad apples that ruin it for everyone she said. To make matters worse my husband lost money while we were gone and we cannot find it anywhere! Oh some days!!!!!

You know what, when cashiers do something like that and I KNOW I am right...I make them take care of getting rid of/putting away the stuff they don't want to ring the coupons for. I was at Kroger the other day and they wouldn't take 2 of my $5 off 5 Kraft coupons. I had 10 things of cheese, they didn't want to take the coupons, so I told the cashier to go ahead and dig out the 10 cheeses from the bags...and then I got specific about WHICH ones to dig out too. And suddenly, he was magically able to take 2 coupons, because he didn't want to have to dig them all out.

So, what I suggest is next time....just tell them you don't want the rest and leave it up to them to deal with it. They want to make a big deal, they get to deal with the consequences.

I agree that you need to be able to feel like you can walk away from a product where a deal does not work the way you expected - does not matter what store you are at-ask them to pull the item from your order

That said Sistersilly- I'm not a WM shopper and I don't understand why you would struggle to get WM to price match, and give them a cpn that they don't dbl if you have access to the store that does dbl cpns and give you ecpns (ie Kroger) - if you can go to the store offering the deal you want and get dbl value for the cpn seems to make more sense - but perhaps I'm not understanding something.

I usually avoid Walmart for the same reason. I only go there for a few specific things and only about once every few months or so. I have 1 coupon and 1 item so no cashier can argue with me.....I do feel sorry for some of the cashiers though as I know their "rules" come from higher up and they get docked if their register doesn't come out right. That's no excuse for being difficult though!

I do usually try to avoid Wal-mart but I live in a county where we have one Save-a-lot and two dollar stores;only one traffic light it's so small. The next closest has just the same and a Wal-Mart. To go to Meijer and Kroger it's about 40 minutes away and to get to Target and Toys R Us(where I was trying to price match the Dvd) its and hour away. If the sales are great I travel if not I just price match what I can. Oh the joys of living in the mountains of Kentucky!!!!

I usually don't make it a habit to go to wm. We have target, big lots, kmart, wags, cvs, jewel, hyvee all within 5 min of each other. So I usually go to them. We also have krogers about 30-40 min. on each side of us depending on which way you are going. Although I usually take the 5/10 minutes xtra time to go to the one farther because the last time I went to the other one they told me they changed their policy and I could only use 2 like coupons at a time, no matter if they doubled or not.Well the cashier was not happy because my cart was full and I had a handful of coupons. I refused to put anything back. I did about 9 transactions. I stood my ground and came out ahead. I dont shop there any more. Its worth the xtra 10 minutes.

I was told by Wal Mart corporate that they would price match anything except electronics, and from any store, from drugstores to other mass merchandisers to specialty stores - as long as they have a print ad. So maybe the reason they wouldn't pricematch the Beauty and the Beast DVD was because they don't pricematch electronics, and they considered that an electronic? Or perhaps corporate told me wrong, and I have no idea what I'm talking about (which is very possible, ha ha!)

I'm really sorry to hear your problems with WM cashier. SHAME ON THEM. I left WalMart after 4 years as a cashier, earlier this year, and I NEVER had a problem doing customers coupons AND, I was KNOWN well because I "ad matched/price matched" with the local Krogers, County Market etc because I studied their ads so I could give the discount and announce it to my customers such as "Milk this week is $2.29 at Krogers, so I'll just go ahead and ad match that for you". I seldom ever had to ask to see an ad. Only when some joker said "hey, someone said they saw 12 pk of Pepsi someplace around here for $1.50...I want THAT price". Nope, that didn't work. If they might have said $2.00- or $2.50 and said a place, it might have been believable anyway.... lol NEAT FACT: I learned about our beloved COUPONMOM.COM from a customer, and I'm here now. I'll never forget shaking her hand (no kidding) when her $249 grocery bill went down to $140-something... no kidding...I shook her hand and asked HOW she could do it and she pointed me HERE!
