    Default BX vs Commisary

So, I've discovered at my base there is no point at all with even going to the BX.

It reminds me of a very old Walmart, with no updates. I had a Q for a Shick Quatro Shaving gel. And they didn't even have on the shelf.

So I bought something else. My husband needed it, and I just got what he normally uses. Anyway, we headed to the commisary, and I didn't bother bringing in our toiletry Qs, I figured it they didn't carry it at the BX the commy wouldn't have it.

I was totally wrong! The Commy has more stuff than the BX does. So there is no point in even going in the door over there. They had the gel I had a Q for. Weird.

    Now I know!

I think prices at the commissary/BX have gotten so much higher that anymore, it isn't worth it to go out of my way (2 hour drive.) There are just a few things that are dirt cheap there. That said, if I lived closer, I would probably still shop there though. At least sometimes. My experience with the BX is that they will never have what you need, when you need it! LOL.

The bigger the installation the more items they have. I think none of the stores out there can beat the commissary prices. Its really worth the drive if you buy a lot and have a big family.

My husband match my savings in a month. He also includes the money that I earned from taking surveys that goes to my paypal account. In this way, I take ownership whatever I buy for myself.

Happy Memorial Day to all the military families and thank you for your services!

ok I know I am late replying to this post but you have to keep in mind that these are two totally different companies. The Commisary is the same company on ALL installations regardless of branch so they are able to purchase more of an item at a lower price where as the Exchange is run by a different company depending on the branch so they dont buy as much of an item and there for have a higher wholesale price plus if not a lot of people shop there because they can get the item cheaper elsewhere then they are not going to buy new items until the old ones have either sold or are outdated.
