I've noticed a problem lately in my shopping at Giant Food (at two different ones in my area). Over and over and over again, things are ringing up incorrectly, or I'm not getting credit for coupons, or I'm not getting Catalinas I was supposed to get.
A couple weeks ago, I got home, looked over the receipt, and realized I hadn't gotten credit for 2 $1 coupons I'd given the cashier. I didn't have any proof, so I never went back to try for a refund.
A few days later, I purchased items for the Meal Deal but didn't get that cost taken off the total.
The next week, same thing with the Meal Deal--I got charged for the "free" items.
And the week after that! Three weeks in a row w/ the Meal Deal.
Last week, I bought Procter & Gamble items and was supposed to get a $10 OYNO Q. Didn't print!
Then, last night, more problems. The Pepperidge Farm bread that was supposed to be BOGO? I got charged for both. And the Thomas' English Muffins that were 50% off? (The circular said BOGO, but the store signs said 50% off). Got charged full price.
When I mentioned these issues to a cashier as she was getting my refund last night, she suggested that it must be because I'm buying the wrong items for the Meal Deal. Um, I don't think so. I can read, and I can see the pictures in the circular. And if I were buying the wrong things, they wouldn't have given me the refund three weeks in a row! They DO look at my receipt to make sure all is legit before handing over cash! But another time when I went back for a Meal Deal refund, the cashier told me that sometimes if you use coupons it screws up the discount (coupons are allowed on the Meal Deal; it just messes up the coding somehow).
The amount of stuff I got gypped on was approx $35. I was able to get back all of this except the 2 coupons in the first incident. But it's a lot easier to have it be right the first time! So just a friendly reminder--pay attention at the register! Check your receipts!
