    Default Refused my internet coupons!

I am so mad right now. I had tried to get the Scott 4pack long lasting rolls for the $3 back promo. They were out when I went on Thur am so I tried to get them tonight. They had 2 so I went to pay. I tried to use my (2) $2 off coupons. The cashier called a lady over saying something about them being $2 and the second lady took them in the back. Meanwhile a line is forming behind me. The lady comes out and tells me they will not take them because they bar code is "too light." Yes, when I printed this batch of q's my ink was low on the printer but the barcodes do scan. I have used several others I printed around the same time there and they ALL scan with no problems (q's for different products). They would not even try to scan them. I then suggested if they are concerned to use the verify link on the q to see they are legit. She handed them to me and walked away! Since there was only 2 lines open at 10pm and the line behind me got longer I told the cashier I did not want them and walked out.

I sent am e-mail to customer service. Any other advice? I cannot believe they would not even try to verify them. I do a good chunk of my shopping at this store but if they are going to be like this I will not go through this crap!

    Thanks!

I had a similar issue and had to email corporate for a clarification, beware they will make the store manager call you so hopefully that is not who you dealt with. Stick to your guns and insist they honor your deal and coupons even suggest again they use the veri-fi site for authentication. The stores are being warned that there are several fraudulant internet coupons going around so they are being extra cautious i believe. They wouldn't accept my velveeta shells and cheese coupon because it said velveeta on it, velveeta cheese was one of the fraudulant coupons, but it was an entirely different coupon not to mention authentic and the manager assured me that it would be accepted upon my next visit. Good luck.

Check this thread for a copy of Giant Eagle coupon policy. Seems to me, a $2 IP should have been accepted.

Can you believe I have not heard anything back from my e-mail! Thanks for pointing out their IP policy. I suspect her reasoning with the barcode being too light was without saying so she felt it was a photo copy. She never said this but that is the impression I got.

Any time I've use an internet coupon for over $1.00 in the self scan lane at Giant Eagle (I always try to use the self checkout lane), it always beeps and turns on the light for customer assistance. The manager told me that the machine will not automatically accept a coupon over $1.00 w/o approval, so the customer service rep has to scan their badge, and type in a code. If I have more coupons over $1.00 I tell them so they don't have to come back and go thru the process again. They've have no problem w/ accepting my internet coupons (so far).

GE has their coupon policy is on their website here.

Giant Eagle - Coupon Redemption Policy

Looks like they "reserve the right to refuse any coupon we believe to be fraudulent"

I'd pitch a fit if I were you.
A penny saved was not a good sale....

I was not in the self checkout. They were closed since it was late. Funny thing is I went back a couple days later and went thru the SCO, used the coupon myself with no problems!
