https://www.jcprewards.com/index.aspx

If you sign up for jcpenny rewards you get a $10 gift certificate.

I didn't do it so don't know many details.

The small print on the page reads:

"Every dollar you spend in the store, online or catalog – for both regular- and sale-priced merchandise – will earn you one point.

Shop each month, spend as little as $125 in a month, and earn a $10 reward."

$125 a month at JC Penny's is a lot of spending to me. I would never be able to earn the $10 Reward card.

Right, but just for signing up for the reward program you get $10, but I may have misunderstood.

Where did you read this??? I would sign up for the free GC upfront, but not to earn the GC for spending $125. I read the "How Does it Work" part and didn't see anything the indicates "free"

I received an email and this is how it reads:

Dear JCPenney Customer,

We would like to welcome you to JCP Rewards, our new loyalty program. It's our way of giving back to you in return for the business you give us.

We've designed JCP Rewards to make enjoying the benefits of membership as easy for you, our Customer, as possible:
You won't need to carry another membership card
You won't need to tell us your phone number every time you shop
You will automatically earn points for your purchases whenever you use your registered credit and debit cards
Your points can add up to a $10 JCP Rewards Certificate every month.
Enjoy your first $10 JCP Rewards Certificate as our special welcome gift to you!

To get started, click the get your reward button below. Create your membership profile and register the cards you shop with at JCPenney. From here, you'll also print your $10 JCP Rewards Certificate. Then, check back each month to see what's new – we think you'll find this a very rewarding experience.

I wouldn't touch this with a ten foot pole...it sounds like phishing to me. They are asking for a credit card number .... please be very careful. If you are really interested I would call JCPenny's corporate and verify this is legitimate first.

I thought it sounded suspicious when it asked for my card numbers. No thank you. I'll pass.

I went to the actual JCPenny website and they do have a rewards program so this is actually legit. Sorry, I've been the victim of credit card fraud one too many times ... I get instantly suspicious when anyone solicits me for credit card infp. Would be a good money maker if you shop at Penny's often.
