Default Verizon/Free Text

I was reading an article this morning and this woman shaved $800 off her yearly cell phone bills...she stated that if you use verizon you can receive free text by using #646...dont know how it works exactly cuz i dont have verizon but maybe the ones that have it and use know how to put in the code first then able to get the free text...could save some $$ for people that have kids that love to text. HTH

#646 just sends you a text telling you how much of your allotted minutes you've used for the current billing period. The text you receive from Verizon is free. Maybe she just meant by checking her usage throughout the month she was able to save money by not going over.

Yes, any text that comes from verizon that includes info about your account (minutes used thus far, billing info, etc) is free. I want to say I pay $20 per month for 3 phones to have unlimited text messaging. This is unlimited text messaging from and to anyone. So for example I can send and receive text messages to a person with a Cingular phone, a Sprint phone etc and it be included in the text package. We used to have the less expensive text package but our son has some friends who were not in the Verizon network and it started costing us extra money each month because all he does it text..hardly ever uses the phone.

We pay $117 per month for 3 phones w/unlimited text messaging, 700 minutes, and insurance on our son's phone. I know 700 minutes shared between the three of us sounds like nothing but we hardly even use 500 of those minutes per month. Like I said, our son barely talks on the phone all he does is text (he is 17). I want to say he averages about 3000 + sent and rec'd texts combined a month. I probably use most of the minutes to be honest.
