Default Register Rewards at Walgreens are Manufacturer's Coupons

This is my very first post and it was never my intent to join this forum; but, I needed to tell of my experience at Walgreens yesterday. I am not that savvy as far as dividing up my purchases and making more than one transaction per visit, but I don't think I would have reaped any benefit from doing so yesterday. I had Manufacturer's coupons for every item I purchased except for 2 clearance items and 3 jars of Walgreen's honey that I had a rain check on. I used 3 RR's, one for 10.00, one for 7.00, and one for 2.00, none of the RR's were from the Manufacturers of the products which I was purchasing. The total number of items I purchased was 20. The number of coupons I used was 20 including the RR's. I waited for my RR's to print on my purchase and was told there was a new Manufacturer's, (not Walgreens)policy in place that if I used Manufactuer's coupons when making the purchase that the RR's would not print because, since the RR's are now considered Manufacturer's coupons and not Walgreen's coupons, it would be the equivalent of using more that the number of coupon's allowed by the Manufacturer on making the purchase. Has anyone else had this experience?

I had something similar happen to me. Her (cashier) explanation was something about them canceling out each other.

I thought what happened was I used a RR to buy the same item to get a new RR.

Sorry to tell you but this is the typical WGS routine-call their Corp. 800 # and tell them what happened. We've all seen this many, many times before. WGS is one of the worst for playing games with customers-even the mgrs don't know their own Corp. policies.

And I wouldn't bother visiting this location again-why fool with them?

But one thing is certain-I see by your post you're a newbie-it is vital you stand up for yourself when this monkey business occurs-if it's WGS or Target(another repeat offender)doesn't matter. You need to politely but FIRMLY stand your ground as you deal with these folks to get what you are honestly entitled to, using your Q's.

Default Walgreens and RRs

Went to my local Walgreens today for the deals with Vaseline Sheer Infusion Lotion, Cover Girl Mascara, Dayquil, John Frieda, ChapStick, Quaker Oatmeal and a couple others. Had my orders separated when DD started fussing for Wendy's (long story). Anyway, the cashier rang up both orders together without my noticing, so of course, not all my coupons were used and the total was twice what it should have been. The manager come to straighten out everything and he was extremely helpful and nice. My RRs had already printed for everything so he he did a return for what should have been the second order which included the Dayquil and Sheer Infusion, then took my manufacturers coupons AND the RRs (for the Dayquil and Sheer Infusion) from the 1st time they rang these up. The cashier who was watching said they could not accept both the RR and the mfg coupon as they were "both manufacturer coupons" but the manager pointed out that the only problem was too many coupons for the # of items. The manager then said he had some .33 cent carmels at the front of the store and asked if I wanted him to grab a few for me. How's that for customer service!

I've heard a lot of horror stories about WAGS but I have to say that everyone at this particular store has always been very helpful and friendly.

I have a local CVS that I also love visiting. Once when the free after RR items were sold out, the manager offered to substitute different (and more expensive items) in their place. He rang up my first order and then asked me if I wanted to use the ECBs from that order on my second order. Maybe they should train the CS managers at Wal-mart I posted before that one CS Mgr told me they couldn't go by the wording of a coupon - had to go by the picture!!! Thanks to corporate - won that battle - HAH!

okay 1st

welcome
i am sure that any answer (or just about any) question that u have u will find someone who can answer it

2nd
if u have a RR from brand x for $x.xx
and u are using that RR to buy brand x for a RR to print for $x.xx
then those DO cancle each other out

BUT - if u are trying to purchase brand y with a RR from brand x then u can do this and still get whatever RR should print

3rd

are u sure that u met all other conditions that applied to get the RR
did u spend more than x.xx BEFORE taxes to get the RR

check the size retrictions on everything
did u buy the right varity

4th
if u still should of got the RR then u need to go to the store and talk to the manager and ASK not demand something in the lines of store credit

if not then go to corprate

good luck and please keep us updated

be sure to ask for help if u need anything

I had the same problem at WAGS as strategyshopper - a manager claimed any RRs redeemed will void out any RRs for a current item I'm purchasing. That gets tricky when the manufacturer is someone like P&G and they have several items under their umbrella that I have to be aware of! I'm trying to coupon fairly but THEY keep changing the rules!
