It just doesn't feel like I am on the winning side. Does anybody else feel this way?

At most Walgreens stores your total coupon/register reward count cannot exceed your total item count (although I have seen one or two people here who say they can make it work at their store). Also, your total coupon/register reward amount cannot exceed your subtotal before tax. Some people also have problems when any individual coupon exceeds the sale price of the item, but some stores will adjust either the coupon amount or the sale price (YMMV). In the case of RRs, if you are ONLY using a $4.99 RR, your total (before tax) needs to be $4.99, and it could be one or multiple items. HTH
Also, I think the reason that many of the cashiers get huffy when asked questions is because they don't know how their system works. I usually know more than they do about their system when I go there.
