    Thumbs down Garnier Nutresse

Aggggggg! I've been letting my grey's gradually 'highlight' my hair. About two weeks ago, we were on a short trip and I looked in the hotel mirror - I didn't realize that the grey's were now taking over about 1/3 of my hair - yikes. With the Garnier offer, I chose a nice shade of medium brown/auburn. I tried it yesterday... my 9 year old called me a beet!! So then I went to CVS and bought my Colgate and Neutrogena and used my profit extra bucks buying a hair stripper - NOT!!! Now my hair is a patchy mess of brown and neon-bright copper streaks. HELP! I have appointments all day tomorrow - I guess I'll wear a hat and probably have to cough up $100 in a salon to fix the mess. Boo hoo. If I get out of this mess, I'll be happy to be grey.

ughhhh i actually turned my hair purple with an auburn color!!! my hair was so dark i had to get it stripped which was so expensive and terrible for my hair!! it was so damaged afterwards!! one thing you can try if its a light reddish color is but the i think its natural instincts NON PERMANANT haircolor. its like haircolor but its more like a wash that stays in your hair they say for 28 washes or something like that. well if you get a meduim to dark brown it will cover the red up some and maybe u can have a dark red brown color but it will not make it lighter which is great!! if its a dark red ummmmmm u can try it but not sure if u will have much luck changing it soooo hopefully its light red and u will end up with beautiful auburn hair!! good luck!!

just reread your post yes definetly try the non permant wash out stuff!!! i would go with a light to med brown and if its not dark enough try the dark brown but start with a light one first the brown seems to stick right to my hair and turns it dark even if its light! good luck again

Okay it is good it did not get patches of blond so you may be able to fix it at home. I turned mine slightly pink once using semi-permanent "plum red" on highlighted hair. lol I then went to a store that sold salon coloring and peroxide and it turned out beautifully. I did use a permanent coloring to make sure all was evenly covered. This is my only concern if you use a semi permanent and as it fades you will probably get blotchy again.

What you want to do is to go a shade darker than your darkest current color of brown. If you like auburn, but not red or copper hair get a medium/dark auburn color. If you want a neutral brown go with a medium brown and look for ash tones to tone down the copper.

Drugstore brand I recommend Hydrience, but I suggest going to a Sally's or somewhere similar and getting Clairol Complements. I have used several drugstore brands and this is my favorite and this is my favorite of professional haircolor too.

If you are uncomfortable doing this and don't want to spend a lot you may want to check out a cosmetology school.

Going to a school of cosmetology will save you a bundle! And yes, they are supervised by instructors.

Luckily, my sister and SIL are hairdressers. So, when the time comes I'm covered. Thank goodness! My silver highlights are just beginning to really bother me.

    Good luck!
