Wink An Additional Way To Practice Charity...

    Hi Everyone,
Every week, I use coupons to buy items for the food bank. This week however is kind of slow because of lackluster sales, etc....

I'm sure many of you have had a similar experience that just happened to me. I was just standing in line in Wal-Mart. The woman in front of me was being rung up for her huge shop. I could not bare to watch someone buy that much, and not have a coupon.

I asked her if she would like some coupons to help her out. She said yes, and I whip out my binder and went straight to 'frozen'. She exclaimed "Wow!! Look at you, prepared!!" (LOL!!) She really was thankful for that. After coupons, her total still came to $231!!

Anyhow, it had occurred to me at the time that this would be an additional way to practice charity.

Nice job CherryPicker! When I have offered an extra coupon to someone without any, they looked at me like I had horns! One day in RA there was a $2 off coupon in the sunday paper for hair color which the customer ahead of me was buying. She also was buying the sunday paper then and there. I told her where to find the coupon and she said why bother. She looked pretty economically challenged. I am amazed that some people won't make even the slightest effort to help themself. Oh well, I guess I'll keep trying to educate those non-couponers.

    Default Pride?

That was super sweet of you. I do that for people to and sometimes they are happy and other times they seem to have a pride issue like they are too good for soupons.

Before I started doing this with the grocery coupons, I did that for an aquarium coupon out of the Entertainment Book and the woman I gave it to just about hugged me! A lot of times people are really suspicious, though, lol.

I've also found myself taking wish lists from coworkers to shop. Got 2 gals 4 cans of campbells chicken noodle soup and a bottle of V8 fusion for a $3 today and ended up getting a catalina for a free year of Better Homes and Garden Mag. in the process.
