    Default Find a Food Bank!

Here's a link you can use to find a food bank in your area. If you've got extras please share them--there are so many families out there who can use some help.

My personal goal for 2009 is to donate food, supplies and/or personal care items at least once a month to local agencies using my coupon finds. Anyone care to join me?

I used the link just to see what would pop up and it came up with two big ones in my state, but I know that there are others in my immediate area.

For example, several of our local church's have banded together to host a food pantry for those in need. I prefer giving there because I know it's staying right in my neighborhood.

If you need to find a food bank near you, you might just try googling the name of your town and the words "food pantry"

Absolutely! I send most of it to deployed soldiers, but I figure it's the same thing.

I have found with using my coupons I can feed my family of 4 and give 6 - 12 bags of groceries and other items away each month for $100 per week. I love it. I have also sent care packages to my mother and soldiers. I donate to my local church food pantry.

I found the same to be true, and I too give to the more local ones. Maybe the smaller ones just aren't linked in yet.

We had FISH food banks here. Not sure if it regional or not. Stands for Friends in Service for Him. The drop-off locations are normally at area churches. I do not donate regularly to the food bank, but at Thanksgiving time I got an awesome deal on cream of mushroom and soup broth and took a bunch down the day before THXGVG. I am hoping now that I am getting more into couponing I will be able to donate more this year.......that is if my stupid Wal*Mart will let me use more than one coupon per transaction! Yes, I am awaiting a response from Corp on that one. They got an earful from me. Until then, WAGS shopping it will be!

I checked out the link for finding a food pantry. Using my zip, it give me what I thought it would- Capitol Area Food Bank. Nothing wrong with that, they serve 21 counties here in Central Texas. Most food pantries in those counties 'partner' with CAFB. They pay a handling fee per pound of food and that fee is quite cheap. I am in the process of making my church's food pantry a partner.
If your area doesn't have a wonderful source like CAFB to supply area food banks, ask around, starting with the church's. One of your social service agencies may know of local food banks. Then there is google . Try googling 'food pantries' and then the town you live in.

CAFB (Capitol Area Food Bank) is located in Austin, Tx. Their web address is CAFB-Home. Those of you living in Texas can go there to see if your county is served and just what food banks in your area are partnered with them. I'm in McLennan Co. and we are served.
If your county here isn't served by CAFB, then inquire around your town about food pantries, or google. Mind you, there may be food pantries in your area that aren't partnered with CAFB, in addition to those that are, but that list there will give you a good start.

On behalf of food pantry coordinators, directors, workers and the families served through out the U. S., I thank you all for supporting food pantries.
Even if all you can give is a single food item, it'll be one more that a family didn't have when the day started.
    God bless you all.

Yes, I totally agree. This is a great thing to do...we have been helping out the pantry, local families and as well the churches. Also the Veterans Clinic.
Totally intend on doing more this year as well!
Thanks for the link.....good looking out!
