Default Giving to others as I've been given to

This weekend I finished my donation box. It was filled with razors, shampoo, body wash, tootbrushes, toothpaste. My DBF is dropping it off for me tomorrow at the local homeless shelter. I don't think I spent more than $15.00 OOP on the whole thing. And I owe it all to Coupon Mom and you wonderful people for showing me how to do it. So THANK YOU!

Isn't it a nice feeling? I just dropped off four bags of HBA to our local food pantry and the lady was overjoyed. Her reaction made my day - and they're right around the corner from me, so I don't have to schlep donations across town anymore. Definate win-win.

When you give to the homeless shelters, don't forget women's hygiene products. Our shelter says they seldom get them and the women are generally too ashamed to ask for more than one or two items. There are ALWAYS coupons for women's products in the paper.

I know exactly just how she felt!! I am the coordinator of my church's pantry and I get excited over all sorts of things, not just the food being donated.
Ever praise God for peanut butter? I have! If we are low, down to almost nothing, and a donation of p.b. comes in, oh, yeah, I thank God.
I don't always know who how the donator is, but sometimes I get to hug one's neck. Here recently, we were way down on corn and green beans. With pantry funds, I had been to the store to get somethings and was able to get some corn and green beans. An elderly couple (church members) came by the church office, and when I just happened to be there, and said they had 7 flats (those cardboard things canned goods are found in) of veggies. Even though the pantry is in another bldg., I gladly stopped what I was doing, drove around to the bldg. and got the cart. The gentleman and myself loaded up the flats... and oh, I was so glad to see more corn and green beans! I thanked them and gave them each a hug.
When you drop donations at any food pantry, I hope you can take the excitement!! Us pantry coordinators, and I am sure any others involved, can get really, really excited over donations.
Teresa

Just curious to see what items people have been giving lately?

a little chocolate
Venus Fusions
Palmolive
Dawn.....in fact people were thrilled to see cleaning supplies up on the shelves
toilet paper
and since my daughter eats kids meals she passes on the toys

with Valentines this week I was trying to think of what special little items I might add for a little basket or something to be given to the families that come to our church food pantry........any ideas?

My BF took a box for me 2 weeks ago with dish liquid, foil, pledge, shampoo, canned soup, razors, etc.

How about those little boxes of conversation hearts? Or small chocolate hearts?
