Default Any interest in a group effort for our military?

I have been collecting items (especially personal care & snack foods) to send to our military sitting in harms way. This is the group I'm recommending
AnySoldier.com

They give you an address for a specific soldier who acts as a distributor of goodies to those military members who get little or no support from home. The MOST REQUESTED ITEM... LETTERS!

Our church does something like this. Do you happen to attend Lighthouse Christian Church? If so, what a small world.

Thank you so much for posting this. I am new to the military family. My eldest son is still in bootcamp. I would love more than anything to help out and will definitely visit the website.. I truly believe in this cause and hope that everyone reads this and feels the same way. We need to keep it to the top of the list so if you're here - bump it up on the threads!!!

Thanks for bringing this site to my attention, it's a great one. I've already requested an address and I should be shipping a box tomorrow.

Thanks!

I am going to visit this site next and donate, thank you for sharing. I have a 13 year old son and I know how much it would mean to me as a mom if there were other moms out there sending him care packages if he were overseas. A The thought of some of these guys not ever getting anything just breaks my heart...

I would like to send letters, but I know I need a specific name and address. I just don't know where to get that info. I'm a Missouri mom and grandma.

Default FYI shippinng at post office

My brother is in Iraq.. i've been sending him TONS of toiletries and candy to share with his squad.. If you go to the post office, they have special boxes for sending items to Military Bases - its a FLAT RATE - NOT based on weight - we usually ship the bigger box - and cram it with as much as you can cram in it (take razors out of packages, etc, etc. to conserve space) and, again, its a flat rate to send to Iraq - no matter HOW HEAVY the box is!

Ask them at the counter for the AFPO or Military Boxes - I believe the standard box is 11.95 for shipping and 13.95 for the bigger box..

I just sent a box of "free" and "nearly free" toiletries weighing over 20lbs..they lady at the post office was laughing at how much i was able to cram into that little box..

Believe me - they LOVE Beef Jerkey, Candy, power bars, and just about any toiletries! Sunscreen and Baby wipes are in huge demand too! When they're out in the field, its nice to be able to wipe the grime off your face and hands - and they're GREAT for cleaning their guns... They can also use 3m (or equivalent) dust masks. My brother says it sounds like an infirmary after they're stuck in a dust storm - all that dust is so fine, it settles in their lungs.. They use bandana's over their faces, but it doesn't filter out the sand very good..

Remember we have females in our troops - they would LOVE to have some GOOD shampoo and conditioner!!!!
