I just wanted to say as the wife of a soldier: A HUGE THANK YOU. It means more than you can know that the military & their families are remembered. My DH has been in for 20 years. My family has packed many of those boxes filled with various things that he & others around him (that weren't getting anything) could have & enjoy. He also took special requests from some for extras to be sent, lol. I made brownies for him & would put them into a freezer gal. size bag (thicker bag). They would form a massive brownie, lol & he would put them(it) out on a paper plate or something & everyone would be able to nibble here & there. They were so appreciative to get something chocolate & sweet!

Again, THANK YOU.

How do you guys send toiletries, etc. to military families? I've been sending recently expired Q's for them to use at the base, but even these cost quite a bit to send. I use the flat-rate military box. Is there a cheaper way? Thanks!

I think most people are talking about sending items like toiletries directly to deployed troops (it helps their families, of coursse, by cutting their costs). I find the best way is to use a military flat rate box which you get from USPS. the large size is 11.95 to ship and holds a lot. I use the anysoldier.com program to get 'contacts' to send to. You can also send to Jamielynn's husband's group in Afghanistan - she has a thread in this section. there are many posts about Anysoldier.com on here, or feel free to PM me, if interested and I can tell you more about it.
