    Default Senior centers?

I'm trying to figure out where I could donate a lot of the health care items we see such good deals for that are geared more towards the senior population. I figure with most seniors on restricted incomes, this economy has got to be hurting them the most. Anyone know?

I usually donate to a local church food pantry. Maybe call some senior centers in your area, or if there is a local senior advocacy (spelling?) agency. I agree with Hollie for the women's shelters too.

An assisted living center could use these the older folks have more independence here than a nursing home. I work at a nursing home (probably not use these things.)

Also any homeless/battered womens shelters could also prob. use these items.

    Thumbs up Senior Services

Most counties have specific 'Senior Services' programs where they deliver 'meals on wheels' and serve a lunch a few times a week at low cost. You could probably find by doing a google search. Many of these organizations work with the Lion's club as well.

AARP just had an article about how seniors are going without. They don't always have the computer or networking skills to find local resources nor the transportation or funds. The article also stated how embarrassed so many of them are to discuss finances - different generation. It makes my heart ache to think there are seniors hungry

On another note - I read a story on the helpothers.org web site about a gal who gave an elderly man with grocery bags a ride home when she saw him walking and looking distressed. Ends up, he still had a very long way to walk and was so grateful. A heartwarmer
