Stop when you see someone in trouble.
Too often I see people drive on by when someone has had an accident or appears to be stranded on the side of the road. I stop almost every time as I always think what if that was me. I've helped people with jumps, changing tires, getting gas, paying for gas, waiting for tows, use of my phone, quick rides home, pushing dead cars, etc. DH worries about me doing this but I cannot help but believe in the better spirit of people. That same spirit has helped when I've been stranded a number of times. I remember once I had gotten two flat tires after hitting a nasty bump in the highway when switching lanes. There was no shoulder to pull over so I was stuck in a lane. I was there maybe 5 minutes before two people pulled over at 4 in the morning no less to help me change the one tire and then a tow truck came by and seeing me stuck pulled over and offered to tow me to safe spot on the side of the highway for free. I was also given a ride home....45 minutes away. It pays to be rich with kindness.

When we arrived at the hospital they told us to say good bye.......we were fortunate, he only broke 4 limbs and ruptured his spleen. He's the one I mention sometimes in law school

right after Hurricane Francis and Gene double punched our area my car had died on the side of the road (it never started again, it got too wet) I was sitting in the car praying and a car with two ladies pulled up, they offered me a ride and when I got in the car they had food and gave it to me (We are talking total destruction here, no stores, no electric, third world country conditions)........I was so grateful to them, they were driving around looking for ppl to help........Ill never forget that.....and I dont rememb their names but I remem their kind faces.....

Write to a former teacher or older person who positively influenced your life. Tell them how much they meant to you. I guarantee it will be the high point of their day.
Be sure to write a sympathy note (not just a card) to those close to you who have lost someone they love. A few kind words at such a time can mean the world to someone. Food pantries have already been mentioned. I am trying to take something each week. They are always in need of canned meat, as this is a bit more expensive than other items usually donated. Ask a friend who lives alone out to dinner or over to your house. Check to see if they have somewhere to go at the holidays. Get to know people who are new in town. It's often difficult to make new friends -- especially if you do not have school-age children. Put together a care package for AnySoldier.com. You can pick someone from your own state, with your last name, or in any branch of the service. There are females, as well as males, that you can write a letter to or send food and useful (or frivolous!) items too. I don't know how the military can fail to supply such things as razors or enough socks. Some medical units are even short of over-the-counter pain killers. And think how nice it would be to get a few snacks you used to enjoy at home! |

That is awesome. I doubt you'll ever forget what they looked it.
